201w ago - The latest patch v1.08 for Infinity Ward's Modern Warfare 2 is now live for the PS3 console in Europe, however, users are reportedly encountering freezing problems as a result.
The update contains fixes for the care package and the Elevator glitches as well as the 10th prestige glitch hack, and a US patch is currently in the certification process.
Robert Bowling has Tweeted that they're working on the issues with Sony, to quote:
"However, we are aware of several users reporting freezes once connected to games. We are currently working with SONY to identify the source of this issue."
We've updated the European PS3 version of Modern Warfare 2, including the following fixes:
• Care Package, Emergency Airdrop, and Sentry Gun marker grenades sprint speed normalized.
• Fix for "infinite care package" exploit.
• Sentry Guns: Improved placement detection, preventing cases of Sentry Guns inside geometry.
• Model 1887: Bling using Akimbo and FMJ combination now has same range and damage as non-Bling Model 1887s.
• Improved player collision removing cases of getting into geometry and 'elevators'.
• Fixes to prevent various XP hacks.
216w ago - This weekend is the first many Uncharted 2 fans have had to get into the PS3 game, which was released last week on October 13 in the US, October 15 in Australia and October 16 in European markets.
That being said, this weekend also marks the beginning of numerous Uncharted 2: Among Thieves freezing reports surfacing... which appear to affect all makes and models of PS3 and can 'strike' at anytime.
However, the majority of reports say that it comes near the end of the game, with a few complaining of freezing problems at the start.
Currently there is no surefire way to fix this problem, however, many are simply returning the game to their retailer to exchange it for a new copy.
To quote: "Whether the system is the cause of the problem, the game, or a possible firmware glitch is the root of the problem hasn't been deciphered, yet. Unfortunately for those who are being affected by the freezing issue, there isn't a sure way to fix it at the given time.
If you are experiencing this problem, you may want to exchange your current copy for a new copy at your local retailer. Hopefully, that will fix the problem for you."
If anyone here has experienced a freezing issue with Uncharted 2 on their PlayStation 3 console feel free to report it in the comments below!
217w ago - Update: If you possess one of these bricked PS3 drives, please see HERE.
Additionally, GameSpot has reported of two gamers (one from Texas, the other Iowa) who also are suing Sony over these very issues.
A man from Florida has filed a law-suit against Sony over their recent PS3 3.0 Firmware update. The suit alleges that the Firmware update caused his PS3, like several others, to malfunction and requires an "expensive fix."
To quote: "A complaint filed by lead plaintiff John Kennedy, and originally unearthed by Courthouse News, claimed that 'thousands of Sony PS3 video game owners who downloaded a system software update required by Sony found that the update caused their PS3 units to malfunction and actually damaged the hardware on many units.'
The suit claimed that Sony is charging $150 to repair PS3s with 'sustained hardware damage' from the update.
253w ago - Although American players have been able to enjoy Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix for quite some time now, European PS3 owners have been left in the dark. We've heard the cries before: "blame Sony," they'd say.
ThePSN.co.uk (linked above) had a chat with Capcom UK's Leo Tan to find out why SCEE is denying release of the game. To quote:
The nice Leo Tan at Capcom UK advised us that the release was currently dependant on "Sony QA", having been submitted twice before for release but winding up banjoed by SCEE due to "faults and other problems" that required the game to be "redone".
Capcom plan to submit a further version "hopefully within three weeks" that they expect to pass QA, but they "can't give any assurances as [we] thought the last one would pass".
Rumors still abound that the game was delayed due to arriving in Europe just after Sony's "no Trophies, no release" rule came into effect, so perhaps we'll get a definitive, Trophy-ready version by February.
