Download: English Docs

Changes:

* Finished the english documentation on how to colorize your games!
* This version fixes a bug with sound volume when loading RIN states.
* The file list can now display up to 1024 roms.

Poisonhzkj updated CXMB to v2.31 which includes:

+ paf.prx/vshmain.prx/common_gui.prx support
+ .res/.pmf/.rsc file support
+ 3.40/3.52 CFW support

Download: Custom XMB Plug-in v2.31

Notice: u should use the uncompress prx, if u download a theme with compressed modules, u have to decompress it, so that cxmb could recognize them.

Notice2: use ms0:/cxmb/vsh/module/ (see? not *nodule*) for prx files and ms0:/cxmb/vsh/resource/ for rco files

Notice3: ms0:/cxmb/font/ for fonts, but actually it may cause ur browser some problem, and DO NOT put jpn0.pgf/kr0.pgf/gb3s1518.bwfon/ltn4.pgf here, it would bring u some unknown problems. ^-..-^

Word hit yesterday that the PS3 version of Half-Life 2: The Orange Box would be delayed a few weeks past its 360 and PC kin. It's the latest PS3 version of a multi-platform game to stagger behind the other SKUs, but today Valve is assuring it had nothing to do with difficulties developing on the PS3 hardware.

Speaking to Eurogamer, Valve director of marketing Doug Lombardi said the reason is simply geographical; the EA UK team handling PS3 development across the pond is running a little behind the core Valve team. "We weren't going to hold up PC and 360 for PS3," said Lombardi. Furthermore, Valve says all three versions will be identical in terms of performance and content.

Considering the delay will only be a few weeks, Valve's explanation isn't surprising - any substantial PS3 development problems would more likely have delayed it by months. So just sit tight, PS3-owning Half Life fans. The wai... More »

From the ReadMe: We are proud to present the first custom firmware for the PSP Slim, and the first custom firmware that runs using a 3.XX IPL (3.60)

Download: PSP 3.60 M33 [Archive Pass: _I_LOVE_M33_Slim_Conquered]

3.60 M33 for PSP Slim has all the features of 3.52 M33, except the 1.50 kernel support, as that kernel doesn't work properly on psp slim (hardware problems, screen problems). 3.60 M33 will load homebrew from GAME, GAME150 and GAME360 directories, but all will be executed with 3.60 kernel.

This mean that some homebrews done specifically for the 1.50 kernel cannot work on 3.60 M33. However, the adaptation of code to 2.XX+ kernels is not difficult, and homebrew developers can port their applications to work in these firmwares.

Included with the release is the M33 sdk for programmers.

Installation: The installation is done using pandora battery and requi... More »

BEIJING (AFP) - A man in southern China collapsed and died after a three-day marathon online session at a cybercafe, state media reported on Monday.

The web-user, estimated to be 30 years old, suddenly collapsed in front of his computer terminal in Guangdong province, and emergency personnel were unable to revive him, the Beijing News reported.

"According to preliminary findings, the length of time this man spent online might have triggered heart problems," the paper quoted a local hospital emergency medic in the city of Zhongshan as saying.

The paper did not provide the man's name or the online activities he was engaged in.

Worried about growing Internet addiction, China's government has taken steps to combat the problem, including forcing online gaming sites to dock the points of gamers who stay online too long.

Rock Band, as the name implies, expands on the music rhythm game genre by adding more players and more instruments alongside the guitarist to create an entire band. The complete Rock Band ensemble consists of a vocalist, a lead guitarist, a bass guitarist, and a drummer. The new instruments are a microphone, a drum set, and upgraded Fender Stratocaster guitars for the lead and bass guitarists.

The extra peripherals will set the price of the game close to the $200 mark, but the success of Guitar Hero and Guitar Hero II makes the pricing easier to accept. If players are willing to pay $70-$90 for a single-player guitar game, $200 doesn't sound unreasonable to get the full four-player band experience. We caught up with Harmonix producer Daniel Sussman to find out more about the Rock Band hardware.

GameSpot: Will I be missing out if I use an older guitar model such as the Gibson SG or the X-Plorer, or will I be able to retrofit it with new accessories? Perhaps t... More »

Last night a gaggle of old-school Team Fortress Classic fans flocked to Steam for their first shot at playing Team Fortress 2, a "beta" only available to those who have pre-ordered The Orange Box through Valve's download service. Unfortunately, as tends to happen with these anticipated downloads, there were some hiccups in the process.

The problem began early when Team Fortress 2 became the first Orange Box game available for download. The rush to Valve's servers was unprecedented, meaning that many excited gamers got a disappointing "Our servers are currently too full" message when trying to pre-load the game. Further issues throughout the night were dutifully chronicled by ShackNews.

At one point well past midnight for most eagerly awaiting players, Valve's Erik Johnson stopped into the ShackNews chatroom to leave this update on the source of the delay:

"We're really close, just a few issues with the Linux server. We just released the Win32 s... More »
