14w ago - Following up on Sony's previous announcement, today rumors of a PlayStation Vita 4G design, PS Vita Firmware update and price cut have surfaced from PatentBolt.com (linked above).
Below are the details, as follows: "On February 7, 2013, the US Patent & Trademark Office published a patent application from Sony that is technically about the PlayStation Vita and their new and upcoming connectors.
Sony states that the connectors are for "connecting the electronic apparatus to peripheral apparatuses" at the bottom and side surfaces of the device housing. Sony's patent filing specifically states that the next generation PS Vita will gain USB, HDMI and a power supply connector described as a parallelepiped connector.
New Ports Coming to Sony's PS Vita
As shown in Sony's patent FIG. 2, the electronic apparatus 1 in this example includes connectors 23, 24, 25, 39, and 59 as the plural electronic components. The connector 23 is, for example, a headphone jack.
The connectors 24, 25, and 39 are connectors such as a USB connector or an HDMI connector for transmitting and receiving data between the electronic apparatus 1 and other electronic apparatuses....
30w ago - Sony Blog Manager Fred Dutton has shared an interview with Ted Price today who officially introduced Insomniac's shape-shifting new shooter Fuse!
To quote: In terms of things that constitute A BIG DEAL, the arrival of a new Insomniac game is right up there.
The California-based studio boasts one of the sturdiest resumes in gaming, with past works including Spyro, Ratchet & Clank and Resistance, and its latest effort - spectacular third-person shooter Fuse - looks every bit as distinctive.
The set-up is simple - you play as one member of a four-strong squad of special agents, each armed with a high-concept weapon powered by a mysterious alien substance called Fuse.
There's beefy Dalton who wields a weapon that allows him to generate a force field. Naya's assault rifle generates a mini-vortex which sucks in enemies. Izzy wields a shatter gun that freezes foes on the spot, allowing colleagues to step in and vaporize them. Finally, Jacob sports a crossbow that fires molten projectiles capable of turning the opposition into a pile of ash.
It might sound like a rather familiar set-up on paper, but in action it's an extraordinary sight to behold, with each outrageous weapon interacting with each other to create uniquely...
56w ago - This weekend retailers GameStop, Amazon (US) and Amazon (UK) have cut the price of the 160GB PlayStation 3 console from $249 to $199 (£159.99) leaving many wondering if an official Sony PS3 price drop is incoming.
To quote from PlayStationLifeStyle.net (linked above): "First GameStop cut the price of the PS3 by $50, then Amazon US, now Amazon UK has also dropped the price by a whopping £40 ($64).
If you live in the UK and have yet to get a PS3, be sure to pick one up now. If you don’t, then the deal should still be of interest to you - Amazon US and GameStop’s price cuts could be seen as simply a price war between the two retailers, but with Amazon UK now joining in on the discount, it does seem like retailers are discounting ahead of an E3 price drop, something that has happened in the past.
Michael Pachter previously said that Sony needed to cut the price of the PS3 to remain competitive in the US:
PS3 hardware sales should continue to lag those of the...
