50°
32w ago - Today D-Pad Studio's Jo-Remi Madsen announced that Savant Ascent PS4 is coming to PlayStation 4 with details below.

To quote: Hey everyone! My name is Jo from D-Pad Studio, and it's our pleasure to announce that Savant Ascent, a game about robot infested towers, magic missiles, and claiming ultimate power, is coming to Playstation.

Music and style are what the game is all about! [Register or Login to view links] in real life is an electronic musician, and in the game you play as Savant as he appears on [Register or Login to view links] cover, designed by our art director, Simon S. Andersen.

Our team has been close friends with Savant for a long time, and last summer we decided that:

• We should create a game together.
• We'd use Savant's music and Simon's characters as inspiration.

We ended up with a beat-pumping, dodge-and-shoot action game, stylized to fit with Savant's tracks. Tracks could be unlocked, giving you an introduction to Savant's music, and also acting as powerful upgrades. This makes you feel like nothing can stop you once you get the hang of things.

We didn't think it was enough to only be able to shoot magic missiles and defeat robots, so we added some varying stages,...

TowerFall Ascension on PS4: Behind the Arena on PlayStation 4

32w ago - Sony Social Media Specialist Ryan Clements goes behind the arena today in TowerFall Ascension PS4 on PlayStation 4 with an interview below.

To quote: TowerFall Ascension launched on PS4 earlier this week, introducing PlayStation gamers to an addictive, challenging, and delightfully pure arena game. With an electric, competitive design and an all new, co-op Quest mode, TowerFall Ascension is a great reminder of why local multiplayer is so much fun.

I touched base with TowerFall creator Matt Thorson to hear more about what inspired TowerFall, how it feels on PS4, and what it was like working as a small indie developer. My thanks to Matt for spending time on PlayStation.Blog!

PlayStation.Blog: What inspired your original vision of TowerFall? Did you always have a competitive element in mind since the game's conception?

Matt Thorson: I tried a lot of things with TowerFall early on, with a focus on single-player gameplay. But the competitive modes just clicked, and it was obvious I had to follow the game in that direction. I realized, once I started designing the versus gameplay, that I had been thinking about local multiplayer for years. I was happy to finally have an outlet for those ideas.

35w ago - Sony Senior Vice President Guy Longworth of PlayStation Brand Marketing shared a video today spotlighting InFamous Second Son on PlayStation 4 dubbed Enjoy Your Power below.

To quote: In just under a month from now we'll launch one of the most anticipated games of the year - inFAMOUS Second Son on PS4.

To fuel the growing excitement for the March 21st launch date, we worked closely with Sucker Punch Productions to create an adrenaline-fueled gameplay spot that dives into the defiant attitude of the game, combining both music and industrial superpowers.

In Second Son you'll play as Delsin Rowe, a superhuman being who decides that possessing spectacular powers is extraordinarily thrilling. He quickly learns the freedom that comes with mastering his abilities and we can't wait for you to experience that exhilaration for yourself.

Featuring new in-game footage and a track from Seattle grunge band Mudhoney, this spot highlights the game's jaw-dropping visuals. It also gives you the opportunity to revel in mastering Delsin's power as you stand up to the oppressive Department of Unified Protection.

Videos: Mark Cerny Confirms Knack Out Today for PS4 / PlayStation 4

50°
49w ago - Sony Game Director Mark Cerny confirmed alongside some new videos that Knack is out today for PS4 / PlayStation 4.

To quote: PlayStation 4 launches; you might say that "next gen" has officially become "current gen"! Game creators have been hard at work, and I think game players have a lot to look forward to.

One of the launch titles is of course Knack, the game that I and the internal Japan Studio have been hard at work on for the last three and a half years. I love character action games, and over the years I've helped create a number of them, including Crash Bandicoot on the original PlayStation, and Jak and Daxter and Ratchet & Clank on PS2.

Our goal on this project was to bring back that kind of classic gameplay, but with a next-gen twist. Knack has the ability to pick up pieces of the environment and grow larger, so over the course of a level he can grow from a three foot tall "mascot" type character to a thirty foot tall rampaging monster.

This is a kind of gameplay I'd never tried to create before, it gives a very unique feel from the game. We've also focused on the narrative that drives the action - there is a full CGI film worth of story embedded in the game.

Sony VP Hints of PlayStation 4 (PS4) Announcement in May, 2013

1150°
92w ago - It's been just over a month since IGN confirmed PlayStation 4 developer kit updates surfaced, and today Sony VP of Home Entertainment Hiroshi Sakamoto has hinted that a PS4 (Orbis) announcement my arrive in May prior to E3 this year.

Below is the scoop, to quote: "He told [Register or Login to view links] in response to a question about "a new announcement related to the new PlayStation," that while the news is "still a big secret," the PlayStation side of Sony, "are getting ready for it."

He of course doesn't directly refer to a "PlayStation 4" or the rumored "Orbis" internal project name. Sakamoto adds that the PlayStation team are "focused on E3," but, "the announcement could take place at that time, or maybe even before, in May."

Sounds like Sony's toying with a pre-E3 event for its next-gen console - E3 takes place on June 11 - 13 - though Mr. Sakamoto's comments are still ambiguous enough that we can't be sure. This is a company that launched three different major hardware iterations of the PlayStation 3, so anything could happen.
