New Resident Evil Revealed in PlayStation: The Official Magazine

200°
180w ago - Today Editor in Chief Gary Steinman of the PlayStation: The Official Magazine has revealed news of a new Resident Evil for the PlayStation 3 entertainment system alongside a video trailer below!

To quote: Who needs to wait for [Register or Login to view links]? It's a month of massive reveals in the May issue of [Register or Login to view links].

We start with our cover story, [Register or Login to view links].

First, a quick note about what Raccoon City is not. Raccoon City is not a survival horror game. Go on–let that sink in for a second. Yes, the granddaddy of survival horror breaks from the very thing that's defined it for over 15 years, instead delivering a wholly unique squad-based shooter experience, with the talented folks at [Register or Login to view links] now handling the development duties.

We saw the game in action and survived to tell a tale of shambling zombies, elite operatives, and a mission to "kill Leon." Indeed, nothing is sacred here, including the long-standing heroes of the [Register or Login to view links]

Sony Offers Preview of PlayStation Official Magazine UK Issue 53

195w ago - Today Deputy Editor Leon Hurley at OPM has shared a preview of the Official PlayStation Magazine UK Issue 53.

To quote: This month I am all about LittleBigPlanet 2. I was lucky enough to get to write the world exclusive review and I can tell you now, it's brilliant.

How brilliant is something you'll have to find out about in the mag. That said making this little target shooting game has been one of my gaming [Register or Login to view links]. Anyway, on to the issue!

The big news this month (aside from Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception) is our 2010 Game Of The Year feature. Or GOTY to its friends. These are the ones you voted for. We count down the top ten in detail, talk about our choices and hand out some 'alternative' awards. Including Biggest Disappointment and - fanfare - Biggest Install! There's also a complete top 40 of all the games voted for.

Probably the best thing you'll read this month is news ed Rachel's rapping adventure. After a bit of brash boasting about her Def Jam Rapstar skills we called her bluff and bundled her off to learn real wordplay with British rapper XO Man.

He's seven-foot and, according to Flavour magazine, is the "UK's answer to Andre 3000″. Rachel's five foot...

InFamous 2 PS3 Hits the PlayStation: The Official Magazine Cover

200°
201w ago - PlayStation: The Official Magazine Editor in Chief Gary Steinman has revealed today to fans that InFamous 2 for PS3 has hit the latest PlayStation: The Official Magazine cover.

To quote: We just got back from the printers a big box of the Holiday issue of [Register or Login to view links] – and it might be my favorite one yet.

For starters, there's our spectacular cover story: inFamous 2. We spent a full day with the fine folks at [Register or Login to view links], seeing aspects of the game that no one outside of the studio has ever witnessed, and getting a chance to go hands-on with Cole MacGrath in new areas of the New Orleans-inspired setting.

All the electrifying details are revealed inside our lavish 10-page feature, along with world-exclusive screens, juicy new tidbits about the story, and a guided tour of New Marais' first island.

We've also scored a big scoop with the first hands-on with Mass Effect 2 on PS3, including details on how developer [Register or Login to view links] will ease us PlayStation gamers into their epic sci-fi RPG (since the original game wasn't released on PS3). Nifty stuff.

And it wouldn't be a holiday issue if there wasn't a gift guide....

Sony Previews PlayStation Official Magazine UK Issue 51

50°
203w ago - Today Sony's Deputy Editor Leon Hurley has shared a preview at what is included in PlayStation Official Magazine UK Issue 51.

To quote: This week I've been playing an inordinate amount of Borderlands and Fallout New Vegas. The main things I've learned are that I'll pretty much do anything for XP, and I like guns that set people on fire. Probably shouldn't admit that last one out loud. Anyway, on to the mag!

We've got loads of good stuff this month. Like interviews with Quantic Dream's David Cage (talking about what's next after Heavy Rain) and Ninja Theory's Tameem Antoniades (talking about the new look Dante in Devil May Cry).

However, our mega interview is a double whammy of Suda51 and Shinji Mikami. The legendary developers talk about their new game, Shadow of the Damned, as well as each other's bad habits and whether they'll ever start a band.

Preview-wise we've got new info on the sexy/weird Catherine from Persona dev Atlus, Resistance 3, Alice: Madness Returns, the Ico and Shadow Of Colossus HD remakes, and The Last Guardian.

Although the big news is our final word on Call Of Duty: Black Ops. I wandered off to visit Treyarch in LA to see the latest on the game, including playing it 3D, which was all sorts of wow. Plus I grilled...

Official PlayStation Magazine Confirms 3D PS3 Firmware for June

550°
226w ago - Today SystemLink (linked above) has shared a scan from the latest Official PlayStation Magazine (OPM issue #45) which confirms the upcoming PS3 3D Firmware update will indeed arrive this June (likely around June 10, 2010) as previously reported.

However, as expected, this PlayStation 3 Firmware update will only bring Sony fans 3D games for the PS3, not 3D Blu-ray just yet.

To quote: "In Issue 45, on sale now, OPM reveal that a new Firmware, possibly 3.40, is coming to PS3 in June, during or shortly after E3.

The only other information given is that this update will prepare your PS3 for 3D games, and another firmware update later in the year will add the same functionality to Blu-rays."
