Sony Releases the PlayStation Official Application 1.3 Update

147w ago - Sony Portal Manager Emmanuel Orssaud has announced the release of the PlayStation Official Application 1.3 update today with details below, as follows:

A new update of the PlayStation Official App is now available. With this new version (1.3), you will be able to get all the latest PS Vita News, Games, Peripherals info directly from your smartphone.

From the home menu, you'll get a prompt to discover PS Vita via an augmented reality feature. All you have to do is find a PS Vita logo, zap it and this will trigger the interactive animation.

Hope you enjoy the new version and I'll be back on the blog pretty soon to announce the next big release (version 2.0) which will be the biggest update to the app so far with new features.

Note: PlayStation Official App is compatible with iPhone 3GS, 4 and 4S with minimum of iOS 4 and for Android devices with OS 2.1 and above.

PlayStation Official App doesn't support Android devices with small screens e.g. Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 mini.
 

Sony Announces PlayStation Official App v1.1 is Coming Soon

183w ago - Update: The Sony PlayStation Official App version 1.1 for both Android and iPhone is now available!

Sony Portal Manager Emmanuel Orssaud has announced today that the PlayStation Official App v1.1 is coming soon from the iTunes and Android Market.

To quote: I'm pleased to announce that the next version (1.1) will include some of the most requested features.

This new version will be available for download in a few weeks from iTunes and Android Market. Let's take a look at the new features and improvements.

In the MyPSN section you'll be able to order your friend list based on their online status and search for friends.

You will now have the ability to compare trophy information with your friends in more detail, as shown in the screenshots below.

In the Blog section, you'll now be able to comment directly from the app and also rate the posts in portrait and landscape mode.

Share & Discuss

There is a new section in the app called Share & Discuss. In there you'll find all our official
PlayStation updates from Twitter, Facebook and YouTube.

Please note that this new version will not support Android 1.6 anymore. Please upgrade your firmware before installing the new version of the PlayStation...
 

Official PlayStation App v1.05 is Live Today in Multiple Languages

198w ago - Sony Portal Manager Emmanuel Orssaud has announced today that the official PlayStation App version 1.05 goes live today in multiple languages.

To quote: The latest version of the official PlayStation App version 1.05 will be available for download from the iTunes App Store and Android Marketplace from this afternoon.

The App is compatible with iPhone and iPod Touch (OS 4 and above), or most Android compatible handsets (OS 1.6 and above).

In the latest version (1.05) we've added support for most SCEE countries which means you'll be able to use the app in your language and also read news and find out about products that are available in your country.

The full list of supported countries/languages:

The PlayStation Official iPhone / Android App is Now Available

206w ago - Just under a month ago it was confirmed and today Portal Manager Emmanuel Orssaud has announced the PlayStation Official iPhone and Android application is now available for download.

To quote: Back in December, I announced that we at SCEE were working on a PlayStation App for iPhone and Android handsets.

I'm delighted today to let you know that the version 1.0 of the PlayStation Official App is now available to download for free from the App Store and Android Market.

The app is compatible with iPhone and iPod Touch with OS 4 and above, and most Android handsets with a minimum of OS 1.6.

Here's a recap of the features in version 1.0:

• Check out your PlayStation Network trophies and keep up to date with your friends' games and online status.
• Discover all the latest games, news and hardware for your PlayStation 3, PSP and PlayStation 2.
• Read all the announcements on the European PlayStation.Blog.
• Share your favourite products or news with your friends on Facebook, Twitter or via e-mail.

The first version (1.0) is available in the following countries: UK, France, Germany, Spain, Italy, and The Netherlands.

210w ago - It appears yesterday's rumor is now true, as today Sony Portal Manager Emmanuel Orssaud has confirmed the Official PlayStation App is coming soon to iPhone and Android handsets!

To quote: I'm very happy to finally be able to announce on the PlayStation.Blog that we will launch the Official PlayStation App very soon.

The app will be available to download for iPhone and iPod Touch with OS 4 and above, and most Android compatible handsets with a minimum of OS 1.6.

In version 1.0 you'll be able to:

• Check out your PlayStation Network trophies and keep up to date with your friends' games and online status.
