DR Studios Announces Battle Islands Launches Today on PS4

50°
2d ago - DR Studios Studio Head Rory Jackson announced that Battle Islands launches today on PS4 with details below.

To quote: Hi. My name is Rory Jackson. I'm the Studio Head at DR Studios in the UK, the developers of the free-to-play strategy combat game Battle Islands, which is launching on PS4 today!

Battle Islands is set in the South Pacific in 1942. A platoon of soldiers land on a tropical island and your task is to defeat enemy forces, build a garrison to defend your island, and go out guns blazing to attack other islands with the huge array of air, sea and land forces you have at your disposal - tanks, jeeps, gunboats, and fighter planes to name but a few!

We're absolutely delighted to bring our game to PS4 today - it's a major achievement for us, and the culmination of a huge amount of work and effort from everyone here. Battle Islands started life as a game on mobile devices, where it's been really popular. However, it's really important to stress it isn't simply a mobile game, as our PS4 launch clearly shows.

We've rebuilt it from ground up to make sure it's up to scratch for a next gen console like the PS4. We've built brand new, higher-resolution assets that we believe look stunning, and built a completely new user interface that really capitalizes on DualShock 4.

Video: Check Out Share Play PS4 in Action on PlayStation 4

5d ago - PlayStation Public Relations guru Andrew Kelly invites fans to check out Share Play PS4 in action today on PlayStation 4 in a video below.

To quote: The PS4 system software update v2.00, codenamed Masamune, will be available to download on Tuesday, October 28th.

One of the features included in the update that I'm most excited about is Share Play, and we put together a quick video to show you how this innovative feature works. Check it out!

As we've said before, the best way to think about Share Play is like a "virtual couch." PlayStation 4 will create an online local co-op experience by allowing you to invite a friend to join your game for up to one hour at a time - even when they don't own a copy of it. Share Play has three main functions:

• Share Screen - Share your screen with a friend, allowing them to spectate. This is ideal for PS4 owners that want to watch their friends play a game and provide helpful tips. PlayStation Plus is not required to use this.

• Hand over my controller - Pass your controller to a friend, virtually, and watch them play. Your...

Video: Escape Goat 2 PS4 is Out Today on PlayStation 4

1w ago - MagicalTimeBean Developer Ian Stocker announced alongside a video trailer that Escape Goat 2 PS4 is officially out today on PlayStation 4.

To quote: #GoatnessAwaits - Hello, PlayStation.Blog readers! This is Ian, main creator of Escape Goat 2, with some important news: the goat has made its way to your PS4!

Escape Goat 2 debuted in March for PC, and has since enjoyed an overwhelmingly positive fan response. My proudest one is reaching the #2 spot on IndieGamerChick's leaderboard of over 500 games reviewed.

(Journey still ranks #1, and... Yeah, I'm okay with that). It's also the very first Double Fine Presents game. Can a dev ask for more than a nod from Tim Schafer? Every bit worth the golf club injury, from which I have fully recovered.

Simply put, the goal of the game is to reach the pinnacle of the Stronghold of Toragos - a structure laden with traps, hidden machinery, lightning machines, and ghostly animals. The theme is transformation: levels change dramatically as you solve them, some of them in a Rube Goldberg type of way.

Along the way, you'll need to rescue some of the sheep who have fallen under the tower's spell. There are over 100 puzzle rooms in all, but in an act of generosity...

Video: Hellblade PS4 Dev Diary: Creating the World on PlayStation 4

2w ago - Ninja Theory Product Development ninja Dominic Matthews posted up a PS4 Development Diary video which covers creating the world on PlayStation 4.

To quote: Hello, Dominic Matthews here from Ninja Theory. I wanted to come back to PlayStation.Blog to share our latest development diary with you and to also give an update on how things are progressing with the creation of our new PS4 title Hellblade.

Back in August we announced Hellblade at PlayStation's Gamescom Press Conference, which at the time was just 4 months into development. By traditional standards, we were announcing the game incredibly early in development.

The reason for such an early announcement is that we want to share as much of Hellblade's development with you as we possibly can.

The standard approach is for games and their development to be hidden away, with details slowly drip fed to players very carefully and slowly over time. But we want to do the opposite. We announced early so that we could start sharing our development approach, creative exploration and decision making from the very beginning.

Since Gamescom we've been updating our site with regular development diary videos, blog posts, concept art and live streams. We've released three development diaries to date, focused on the announcement...

4w ago - Bandai Namco Games America Inc Associate PR Specialist Grace Liu announced that Short Peace is out today on PS3.

Below are the details, to quote: Get a full dose of anime culture today! Short Peace has finally arrived in the Americas with an anime movie and game sold as one, exclusively for PS3!

If you haven't heard of it yet, Short Peace is a film anthology that features works by the legendary anime artist Katsuhiro Otomo, who is best known for his popular dystopian cult film Akira.

The project includes four short films with various settings and themes throughout Japan's history from ancient to modern-day Japan, and was originally created to celebrate the unique qualities of Japanese culture.

We're proud to say that one of the short films, Possessions, was nominated for a 2014 Academy Award for best Animated Short Film. It tells the story of a lone traveler who is confronted by unusual spirits in an abandoned shrine.

Combustible is a spectacular tale of love, honor, and firefighting in ancient Japan. Gambo sets a mysterious white bear defending the royal family from a monstrous red demon. A Farewell to Arms tells the story of a tour-de-force saga of men battling robotic tanks in apocalyptic Tokyo.

These short films are book ended by a 2D side-scrolling...
