Metal Gear Solid 4 Goes Platinum on PlayStation 3 Next Month

50°
284w ago - Konami has announced today that it plans to release one of Sony's hit titles for its PlayStation 3 console - Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, as a budget title this March. The budget title will be released as part of the Platinum range from March 5th.

Retailing at 29,95 Euro (that's around £26 of The Queen's currency), Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots returns following an incredible period as a full-price title.

The game saw over three million copies shipped on its release in June 2008 and has won a host of illustrious awards all over the globe, and its continued success saw sales of the long-running Metal Gear series top 26.5 million units.

Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots comes on a Blu-Ray disc containing it and Kojima Productions' Metal Gear Online - a dedicated online title that uses locations and gameplay elements from Guns of the Patriots. Metal Gear Online features all the stunning stealth and combat elements of Guns of the Patriots, as it drops the player into a series of war zones and game options.

With all-out 'Last Man Standing' battles to rescue and protection missions, Metal Gear Online effortlessly transfers the sublime control system of the series to an online competition, creating an absorbing battle between like-minded fans.

Burnout Paradise now a PlayStation 3 Platinum Game

50°
306w ago - The PlayStation 3's Platinum Games line-up just keeps getting better. After the likes of Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction, MotorStorm and Resistance: Fall of Man, you can now race around Paradise City for less with Burnout Paradise joining the ranks.

When PS3 Platinum Games were first announced last month, Burnout Paradise strangely made it on to advertising posters, banners etc, but it never really showed up in stores. But it's here now and should be in stores across India by the end of September at a discounted price of Rs 1,499.

Interestingly, Burnout Paradise is still not a Platinum title in the UK, which is strange because in such cases, India usually mirrors SCEE practices. Not that we're complaining; we now have two decent racing games on the PS3's Platinum line-up (and no, the other one is not NFS ProStreet).

PS3 Firmware Update v2.41 brings new look for Platinum Trophy

100°
316w ago - It appears that today's PS3 Firmware Update v2.41 has brought along with it a new sporty-looking Platinum trophy.

While Platinum trophies used to look like a bizarre purple crown, the new version (pictured below) looks more like a sports trophy made of crystal.

To quote from Radiskull's comment HERE below:

"I've noticed 2 things with this 2.41 so far. The in-game XMB lag seems to be gone (at least for me), and the Platinum Trophy icon on the trophies page has a new look. It was previously a crown, and now it looks like a globe. Pic of it below."
