9w ago - The Digital Lounge CEO Abrial Dacosta announced today that classic platformer Another World is coming to PS4 next week.

To quote: Video game creator Eric Chahi has left his mark on the gaming industry by designing titles that deeply immerse players in strong emotional content.

Internationally acclaimed for titles such as The Time Travellers, Heart of Darkness, From Dust and, above all, Another World, Eric has created entire worlds that all bear the undeniable imprint of his personality.

Martial Hesse-Dreville is a Berlin-based engineer and freelance game developer, formerly the founder of Dancing Dots studio. Martial specialises in gameplay programming and handheld consoles. He is a perfectionist who likes nothing better than to fine-tune the details of his projects.

Another World is a part of video game lore and a very special landmark in Eric's career. It's a visceral game that Eric put a lot of his soul into throughout two years of development.

His suggestive and non-verbal narrative gameplay gripped players' imaginations, and has been a major influence for many developers. Now, Eric and Martial have teamed up to bring the legendary platformer to PlayStation 4.

We caught up with Eric and Martial to talk about the challenges of bringing...

16w ago - Discord Games Inc Founder James Petruzzi announced that RPG Platformer Chasm is coming to PlayStation 4 this year.

To quote: Hello, PlayStation fans! My name is James Petruzzi, and I'm the Producer of [Register or Login to view links], a procedurally-generated RPG Platformer coming to PS4 later this year.

In Chasm, players take up the role of Daltyn, a young soldier sent to investigate the mysterious disappearance of a mining crew in the remote mountain town of Karthas. Upon arrival you learn the town has been cut off from the outside world by supernatural forces.

Now trapped, you are left with no option but to explore the mines below the town and uncover the source of the disturbances. Only by gaining new special abilities, evading dangerous traps, and defeating hordes of deadly enemies can you hope to save Karthas - and possibly the world!

One of the hardest parts of game design is creating a unique and interesting world for players to explore. The Metroidvania genre has always been popular among exploration fans, and utilizes unlockable items or abilities that help the player reach previously inaccessible areas.

The goal of our latest game is to make an authentic Metroidvania-style experience that utilizes procedural generation to keep the experience...

200°
25w ago - Metanet Co-Founder Mare Sheppard is here today with an introduction video to their PlayStation 4 action-platformer called N++ below.

To quote: Hi everyone! This is Metanet, back with another update. Since our last post, we've been focused on getting N++ into an alpha state, which has mostly involved adding all of the particle effects, sounds, and animation that help to really bring things to life.

While the main core of the game has been working for a while, it's nice to finally see things with more bells and whistles!

We've also been making and arranging levels - a continuous process that will go on right up until the game ships - as well as doing some playtesting. People are responding well to the new levels so far, although we may have made some of them a bit too hard.

The good news is: we now have a playable demo which we'll be showing soon at [Register or Login to view links] and [Register or Login to view links]. If you'll be at either of those events, please stop by and check it out!

For those of you who don't really know what N++ is, today we're going to delve further into one simple question: "What is N++?"

The genre that best...

52w ago - Today at Gamescom 2013 Metanet Co-Founder Mare Sheppard made available a video introducing fans to Ninja Platformer N++ for the upcoming PS4 / PlayStation 4 video gaming console.

To quote: Hello! We're Mare and Raigan from Metanet Software, and we're really excited to finally be able to announce that N++ will be coming to PS4!

One of the requests we get most frequently is a version of N for PlayStation, so we're delighted to reveal that yes, it's happening! And it's gonna be great.

If you haven't heard of us, we're the creators of N, N+ and now the upcoming N++. If you want to read more about those games, check out [Register or Login to view links] about their backstory.

Next year will mark the 10-year anniversary of N, which should tell you that we've been working on this series for a very long time. We've learned a lot about N over the years, and now it's time for us to take all the loose ends, crazy experiments, and things we never got a chance to do, and combine them all into one final version. Our goal is for this to be the definitive version, the one which we ourselves would want to play over all other versions: N++.

We can't wait to say more! In the meantime, the teaser trailer above should...

Video: Puppeteer Interview: Delving Into Japan Studio's Platformer

50°
58w ago - Sony Blog Manager Fred Dutton shared a video interview today which delves deeper into Japan Studio's incredible platformer called Puppeteer below!

To quote: Shameless favoritism alert: PlayStation Blog ruddy loves Puppeteer. It's one of the liveliest, loveliest and most downright out-there platformers to come along in years, and plays beautifully to boot.

It arrives in stores on 11th September, and if it's not on your radar yet, it's time to stick a pin in it. This is a game unlike any other you'll see on shelves this year.

With just a few weeks left of development, we caught up with the game's director, the ever-insightful Gavin Moore, last week to delve a little deeper into his deviously dark creation.

When we spoke last year you explained that you were making Puppeteer so that you had something to play with your young son. What's his verdict now that he's been able to play it?

Gavin Moore: He loves it! He likes playing it either on his own or with his Dad, which is nice.

If I'm playing Kutaro and he's playing the secondary character - Picarina or YinYang - he tries to kill me all the time because he wants to be Kutaro. He thinks Kutaro is him,...
