No longer will PS3 gamers have to wait for Bioshock, the game that sent Xbox 360 sales into orbit last year. The Bioshock demo for PlayStation 3 is now available for download on the PlayStation Network, as expected earlier this week.
The full version of the game is scheduled for release in retail stores and online October 21, that’s only 17 days away!
Bioshock for PS3 has supposedly been improved from the Xbox 360 version, although according to 2k senior producer Melissa Miller not on the graphics level. Some additions include a new “Survivor” mode where enemies are more difficult to defeat, PS3 Trophy support, and new plasmid powers.
For those of you who are unfamiliar with BioShock, it was designed by Ken Levine of 2K Games and released for XBox 360 and PC in August ‘07.
The game is set in 1960 and follows plane cr... More »
So I make no secret of the fact I LOVE Bioshock. It was my game of the year last year by a long way. Yeah COD4 was a great game and I am still playing that. Halo Jesus really was not the game it should of been - please don’t flame me it’s just my opinion and Mass Effect had too many little issues. So Bioshock really stood out for me.
So it was with great delight that I found out it was coming to my shiny black paperweight. The trouble is, would it play well on the PS3?
Well the demo hit the PSN (all regions thanks you 2k/Sony!) and I downloaded it as soon as I got home. It took a little under and hour to drop down the 1.8GB demo (holy crap demos are getting bigger !) and around ten minutes to install (go figure!).
It was with real trepidation that I launched the game and waited for the menu to roll up. First thing you notice is just how many teams worked on this game! 2K Boston, 2K Australia, Digital Extremes etc - That never sounds good!

JStevenson, one of the developers of Resistance 2 just confirmed at NeoGAF forums (linked above) that there would be new 'ingame' images of Resistance 2, which would be posted tomorrow.
Here is what he said:
"Hi everybody,
I'm exhausted, but we showed co-op, SP and MP... some folks played co-op for close to two hours, others played SP for that time, and others played MP. We went for over four hours and still had to kick people off.
Feedback was universally and exceptionally positive.
I'll be on a plane tomorrow when everything breaks. Rest assured i'll be around to answer questions when I get in.
And yes, all the screenshots you'll see tomorrow are real... "
Curious what ex-Team Ninja head Tomonobu Itagaki has been up to since leaving Tecmo back in June? Our own James Mielke journeyed all the way to Tokyo to score this exclusive post-Tecmo interview with the father of Ninja Gaiden, and boy is it a doozy.
Always quick with plenty to say that can stir things up, this beefy chat with the admittedly drunk Itagaki is overflowing with gems. For example, Itagaki likens the decline of Japanese game development -- and most other things -- to aerial dogfights:
"For instance, look back to World War II. You had aerial dogfight battles with 600 planes on each side. And then, as we got into, say, the Korean War, it was maybe 50 or 60 per side. And in modern times, with modern jet planes, you only need one or two to fight a battle. So you certainly see a progression like that, but I look at it as someone who likes fighter planes and thinks they're really cool. The fact that fighter planes themselves have dwindled in num... No doubt you’re familiar with the Universal Serial Bus – we ranked it as our top PC innovation of all time. But what do you know about the next version of this ubiquitous interface? USB 2.0 (otherwise known as USB Hi-Speed) boosted the original 12Mbps data rate to 480Mmb/s over eight years ago, and now USB 3.0 (dubbed USB Superspeed) is set to multiply that bandwidth tenfold.
The USB Implementers Forum (led by Intel) released the USB 3.0 spec to hardware partners last week after some reported disputes with AMD and Nvidia (who, afraid Intel would have a jump start in incorporating the tech in chipsets, threatened to develop their own USB standard). But how does this affect you? We dug up some new information about USB 3.0, got our hands on the new connectors, and even took a look inside the new cables.
USB 3.0 will be backwards-compatible with USB 2.0
Like the upgrade from USB 1.1 to 2.0, the new 3.0 connectors and cables will be physically an... More »
Two lucky gamers had the chance of a lifetime after winning our online Warhawk tournament on PLAYSTATION®3. The winners Dubsix & RasOlo were given the incredible opportunity to take a flight in a 'real' L-39C jet fighter plane.
This is Warhawk for real! Not only did these lucky chaps get to experience the heart-pumping G-forces of riding in an actual jet plane, but they even had the opportunity (albeit momentarily...) to actually take control of the throttle and 'barrel-roll' this amazing piece of aeronautical engineering.
We're not kidding! Read the full interview with dubsix & RasOlo below:
WARHAWK WINNERS: INTERVIEW
Q1/ HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN PLAYING WARHAWK?
RasOlo: Since the minute it was in the PlayStation Store.
dubsix: Downloaded soon after release via the Playstation Store, so around 6-7months

The first manned, hydrogen-powered plane has been successfully tested in the skies above Spain, its makers say.
The small, propeller-driven craft, developed by aviation giant Boeing, made three short flights at an airfield south of Madrid, the company said.
It was powered by hydrogen fuel cells, which produce only heat and water as exhaust products.
The tests could pave the way for a new generation of greener aircraft, the company said.
Boeing's chief technology officer John Tracy said the flights were "a historical technological success" and "full of promises for a greener future".
Small future
Three test flights of the two-seater aircraft took place in February and March at an airfield at Ocana, south of Madrid. The plane was modified to include a hybrid battery and fuel cell system developed by UK firm Intelligent Energy.
The fuel cells, which create electricity by combining oxygen and ... More »
A US man has sold the domain name pizza.com for $2.6m (£1.3m) - after maintaining the site for just $20 a year since 1994.
Chris Clark, 43, accepted the offer from an anonymous bidder after a week-long online auction.
"It's crazy, it's just crazy," Mr Clark, who lives in North Potomac, Maryland, was quoted as saying by the Baltimore Sun newspaper.
"It will make a significant difference in my life, for sure," he added.
Regret
Mr Clark registered the domain name in 1994, when the world wide web was just starting.
He had hoped that pizza.com would help to get a contract with a pizza firm for his consulting company.
He sold his business in 2000, but kept paying the $20 annual fees for maintaining the domain, which he also used to sell advertisements.
In January, Mr Clark decided to sell it after hearing that another domain - Vodka.com - was sold for $3m in 2006.
