Atlus Announces Persona 4 Arena Ultimax is Out Today on PS3

12w ago - Atlus PR Manager John Hardin announced that Persona 4 Arena Ultimax is out today on PS3 with details below, to quote:

[Register or Login to view links] is the sequel to the fighting game spin-off of the Persona franchise, Persona 4 Arena, but it's so, so much more than just an update.

Characters from both Persona 3 and Persona 4 are thrust into a fighting tournament, which continues the story after the conclusion of the RPG Persona 4.

This story is canon for the Persona franchise, and takes place almost immediately after the conclusion of P4A, which itself is just a few weeks after the end of Persona 4.

P4AU picks up where the original Arena game left off, with six new players joining the P-1 Climax tournament. The new characters include Persona 3 and 4 favorites Junpei, Rise, Yukari, and Ken & Koromaru, along with series newcomers Sho Minazuki and Sho Minazuki (it's confusing, I know.. But the story explains it).

There are also three DLC characters: Adachi, Marie, and Margaret - Adachi even has his own story! Story mode is also retooled to be more streamlined for the two major arcs (P3 and P4 story). Plus, in addition to the Adachi story DLC, we're offering the original story as DLC too.

124w ago - Atlus Manager of Public Relations and Sales Aram Jabbari has announced alongside a video trailer that Persona 4 Arena is bursting onto PlayStation 3 today!

To quote: Persona 4 Arena, the freakishly gifted fighting progeny of [Register or Login to view links] (makers of Persona and other fine JRPGs) and Arc System Works (makers of Guilty Gear and BlazBlue), is out now in North America for the PlayStation 3 computer entertainment system.

What exactly do you get when you marry Persona and its rich I-want-to-go-to-there universe of characters and mythology and some masterful fighting game design?

Based on the fact that it's Japan's top arcade fighting game, Japan's bestselling conventional console fighting game of the past four years, and one of North America's most anticipated fighting games in recent memory, it would seem you get one heck of a mix of gaming DNA. It probably has a perfect SAT score and everything.

With a unique fighting engine that deftly incorporates the titular Personas and their breathtaking special powers; a roster of thirteen intricately balanced fighters, a majority of whom hail from the acclaimed Persona 4 (and a few from the equally beloved Persona 3); expertly rendered character sprites and backgrounds; a smorgasbord of features, modes, and content...

400°
128w ago - This weekend Atlus has confirmed that Persona 4 Arena will indeed be the first PS3 region-locked video game for the PlayStation 3 entertainment system.

Up until now, all games (not Blu-ray movies) have been region-free on the PS3, however, the Atlus representative stated to [Register or Login to view links] that "Persona 4 Arena will be region-locked in all territories on both PS3 and 360."

Sony developers have been able to region-lock PlayStation 3 games since PS3 Firmware update 3.30, although publishers didn't utilize the option until the PS3 3.50+ SDK.

From Atlus Staffer lol, forums via [Register or Login to view links] to quote: "Sorry for the delayed confirmation, but yes, the PS3 version game will be region-locked. I certainly can't offer details as to why, but there might be an official response at some point.

To reiterate, our version of the game works for the North and South America regions. Also keep in mind that both the NA and JP versions have both English and Japanese text/voice options, making them nearly identical. I'm unsure of what the case will be for the EU version."

Atlus Announces Persona 4 Arena Brawls on PS3 This Summer

350°
146w ago - Atlus Manager of Public Relations and Sales Aram Jabbari has announced today that Persona 4 Arena will be brawling onto the PS3 entertainment system this summer.

To quote: Look, I'm just going to come out and say it: this summer, ATLUS is bringing Persona 4 Arena to a PlayStation 3 computer entertainment system near you (and if it's near you we're going to go ahead and assume you own it).

One of the most successful, highest-rated RPG franchises of the last few years is our very own Persona series. The two most recent games, Persona 3 and Persona 4, were hailed for their memorable casts of characters, plots that defied many established clich├ęs, and mechanics and visual designs that stood apart from their competitors.

Collaborating with fighting genre masters Arc System Works (the folks who made a little series called [Register or Login to view links]), ATLUS is taking the Persona universe, complete with its added "summon your inner power" wrinkle, and transforming it into one of the most unique, visually stunning fighting games you've ever laid your eyes on. Or whatever part of your body you lay on things.

Persona 4 was all about a world inside the TV; those who were thrown in were featured on the mysterious Midnight Channel, with only days to live.
