Spry Fox Announces Road Not Taken is Playable at PAX East 2014

37w ago - Spry Fox CEO David Edery announced today that Road Not Taken is playable at PAX East this year.

Below are the details, to quote: (This post is about Road Not Taken, Spry Fox's upcoming roguelike for the PS4 & PS Vita. If this is your first time hearing about RNT, check out our trailers [Register or Login to view links]!)

PAX East is nearly upon us! We will be there, and for the first time ever, be making a playable demo of Road Not Taken publicly available for all to enjoy!

This may have triggered a wee bit of panic in our studio.

Suddenly, all the little bugs we've been ignoring demand attention. That crash that occasionally happens during the first mission? Must-fix! Slow loading times? Speed those suckers up!

Aside from fixing a boatload of bugs, we've also been spending a lot of time tweaking the first mission of the game, since that's what most people will experience at PAX.

Initially, we didn't worry about it much. After all, we have a tutorial that we've revised at least a dozen times. The first mission just has to be "relatively easy" and all will be well, right? Nope.

While the core mechanic of Road Not Taken is relatively simple, there are dozens of unusual objects and creatures you encounter in...

Video: PAX East 2014: See The Evil Within in Action for PS4 & PS3

37w ago - Bethesda Softworks Global Community Lead Matt Grandstaff posted up a video today spotlighting The Evil Within in action for PS4 and PS3 at PAX East 2014.

To quote: This weekend, evil takes hold of our Bethesda Booth at PAX East in Boston, MA.

Throughout the day, we'll be doing the first North American public demonstrations of The Evil Within - the new survival horror game developed by Shinji Mikami and his Tango Gameworks team based in Tokyo, Japan.

During the demo, the game's main protagonist, Sebastian Castellanos, will square off against one of the game's most terrifying creatures: Boxman.

Be sure to stop by our booth and check out the presentation. And if you happen to dress up with The Evil Within cosplay, we'll reward you with a spot in the front of the line.

Can't make PAX? Be sure to watch our new PAX East trailer for a glimpse of the Boxman boss battle.

Stay tuned for more info on The Evil Within - coming to both PS4 and PS3 on August 26th.

37w ago - Bethesda Softworks Global Community Lead Matt Grandstaff invites PlayStation 4 fans to play Wolfenstein: The New Order on PS4 at PAX East.

To quote: If you're planning on attending PAX East 2014 this weekend in Boston, we're excited to share news that you'll be one of the first to play Wolfenstein: The New Order on PS4! The game will be playable at our booth Friday through Sunday.

Additionally, from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM on Saturday night at the Royale Boston, the game's faux record label, Neumond Recordings, will be hosting a record release party.

During the event, you'll be able to grab some awesome swag, food and drinks with friends, and listen to live music from Neumond's finest bands. And like our PAX East booth, you'll be able to play an early chapter from Wolfenstein.

Borderlands 2: PAX East Returns to Pandora on PlayStation 3

141w ago - Producer Matt Charles has shared details today on Borderlands 2 from PAX East for PlayStation 3 fans today!

To quote: This weekend at the Borderlands 2 booth, we granted PAX East visitors chance to play with two brand-new characters for Borderlands 2 - Salvador the Gunzerker and Maya the Siren - in a new environment called the Caustic Caverns.

The Gunzerker and Siren classes have made great strides compared to their counterparts from the original game. Players who choose to play as Salvador will be able to use his Gunzerking ability to run into a crowd with two guns blazing.

If you played the first game, you may recognize this as an evolution of Brick's Berserking skill. Meanwhile, Maya's new Siren skill Phaselock isolates an enemy inside a phase bubble for a short time.

Once you've Phaselocked a target, your primary choice is whether to focus your fire on the helpless foe before it breaks free or mop up any other threats nearby. Decisions, decisions!

Borderlands has a strong history of co-op gameplay and that's still a core promise of this game. At PAX, we watched as Siren players Phaselocked an enemy, leaving an opening for the Gunzerker buddy to run up, dual-wielding, and take out the target just in the nick of time.

I'm also happy...

247w ago - Naughty Dog Community Strategist Arne Meyer has shared some pictures and details from PAX East 2010: The Naughty Dog LIVE PS3 game design panel today.

To quote: We've all returned - and mostly recuperated - from our trip to Boston this past weekend to attend [Register or Login to view links].

It was both a pleasure and an honor to make it out for the inaugural PAX on the East Coast, not only to attend the show, but also to participate in [Register or Login to view links].

Everyone at [Register or Login to view links] deserves all our gratitude for putting together such a smooth first - and completely sold out PAX in Boston. We're looking forward to [Register or Login to view links]!

We weren't expecting the massive turnout for our panel on Saturday, "Naughty Dog LIVE: Game Design with the Dogs." When I got to the Naga Theater to setup for our panel, the line waiting to get in was insane - and it was a whole half-hour before our panel was due to start. I heard some people had been waiting in line for over an hour at one point.

It was sad to hear that PAX Enforcers had to turn away a...
