To quote: This past weekend at PAX, I was fortunate enough to moderate a panel with some of the top minds working on God of War: Ascension.

While getting inside the heads of the creators of Kratos' next adventure was a treat, we did a lot more than just talk.

The team brought early sketches of Kratos (dreadlocks!) and the first playable video of the original God of War, before the Blades of Chaos were irrevocably bound to his forearms. We also revealed Ascension's big bads, the Furies, with a close look at Mageara, the "enforcer" of the mythical tio.

While we streamed the panel live, courtesy of Twitch.tv, you're forgiven if you missed it last Friday evening. But the excuses are gone now - we've cut down the hour-long panel into an 11-minute highlight reel. Take a look:

To quote: Pax Prime was a blast! We were amped to publicly show off our behind-closed-doors gameplay demo of The Last of Us that only a very select few media members saw at E3.

This demo highlights narrative exploration through interactive prompts, environmental puzzles, the balance of power AI, and some of the dynamic stealth elements you'll be able to use to plan Joel and Ellie's survival.

How many resources are at your disposal? Do you go offensive or defensive? You'll have to keep calm, think, and rely on your partner, Ellie, as you survive and make your way westward.

41w ago - Sony Social Media Manager Sid Shuman is here with some video footage this weekend announcing that Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes is coming to PS3 at PAX 2012.

To quote: At PAX 2012, Metal Gear Solid creator Hideo Kojima showed off 15 minutes of the first gameplay footage from his upcoming PS3 game. Though running on a PC, Kojima stated that the footage was comparable to what would be seen on the PS3 version of the game.

The demo begins with an in-engine, real-time cinematic set in a rain-drenched prison camp, and ably shows off FOX Engine's advanced shader, lighting, and particle effects.

After the cinematic showing a mysterious man with a mutilated face and wide-brimmed hat leading troops from the prison camp into a mission, the gameplay footage kicked into gear as Snake moved into position outside the prison camp - a huge open-world environment riddled with entry points.

Kojima pointed out nearby APCs and helicopters, confirming that Snake can commandeer and pilot them if he so desired. As if to prove the point, Snake hopped into a Jeep to gain access, evading a roaming tank in the process. Kojima also showed that you can deploy a flare "at any time" to call in a friendly helicopter - it will let you fly between missions, and even to other countries.
