Criterion Games dates Burnout Bikes... and it's NEXT WEEK!

100°
332w ago - We're finally able to announce that our latest free downloadable Burnout pack bikes will be out 18th of September!!!

It's tough to give specific dates on downloadable content, because we don't know for certain until the last minute. But hey, we're really excited about bringing bikes to Burnout, so we're going to take a chance and tell you that we're aiming for September 18 - that's this coming Thursday!

If you missed our earlier posts, here's what's coming:

- Pick from 2 motorcycles featuring male or female characters and start on a whole new progression to earn your Bike License.
- 38 new against-the-clock race events - Burning Ride and Midnight Ride.
- A brand new in-game 24 hr day / night cycle that impacts traffic density and available events. (It's fully customisable - you can make it day/night/change the clock speed - it's up to you.)
- Dynamic weather brings an all-new look to Paradise City
- And if that's not enough, we've got 70 more Freeburn Challenges too

Freeburn is Burnout's uninterrupted drop-in / drop-out online play. It's a cool collaborative experience, so it's all about hanging out with your friends, messing around in vehicles while racing, pulling tricks and crashing in a massive open world city.

In addition, we'll be doing some DLC promotion on the Xbox Live Marketplace that will allow you to download the Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare Variety Map Pack for 50% off, which means you'll be able to snag all four maps for just 400 MS points.

That's not all though, thanks to so many of you who have written in and requested; we've been able to work it out to get the Prestige Gamer pic pack back on the marketplace for download for all those who missed out on it's limited offering during our last LIVE fire weekend.

So you'll be able to grab gamer pics of every prestige rank after downloading the discounted Variety Map Pack.

Some of the IW crew and myself will be jumping on this weekend to prey on all the new Variety Map Pack owners wandering lost in Chinatown, ripe for the picking. Be sure to add the following Xbox Live gamertags so you can join in on some of the games:

MotorStorm: Pacific Rift Demo Gets Limited Release Next Week

200°
333w ago - Sony's semi-official blog ThreeSpeech has just heard that a demo of MotorStorm: Pacific Rift will be available to a few select people next Thursday.

Apparently, some gamers will be chosen at random to receive an e-mail with a voucher code to download the demo. The Demo will be available to everyone else next month.

To quote: ThreeSpeech has just heard that a demo of hotly anticipated off-road racer, MotorStorm: Pacific Rift (as if we need to explain what MSPR is to you guys...) will be made available to a lucky few next Thursday. Some of you lucky lucky people will be selected at random to receive an email with a voucher code allowing you to download the demo, with it being made available to everyone else next month.

We're expecting more details on this next week so keep checking back. Sadly ThreeSpeech can't do anything to increase your chances of being chosen, but you know we would if we could...

360 price cut week of Sept. 7; 60GB $299, Elite $399, Arcade $199

50°
336w ago - It appears that two of the Xbox 360 SKUs will receive a $50 price drop by the week of Sept. 7, making the 60GB model $299, the Elite $399, and the Arcade will drop $80 to $199.

A few of our retail contacts, some of whom have given Joystiq good intel in the past -- and who all work for separate corporations -- have sent us identical information regarding a price drop.

Evidence of the Elite and Arcade price cut can be found in the picture below featuring an image from the Sept. 7 Radio Shack flyer.
