153w ago - Team17 Software Ltd Head of Design John Dennis has announced that Worms Crazy Golf hits PSN today in Europe and on October 25th in North America.

To quote: With [Register or Login to view links] launching on the U.S. PlayStation Store on Tuesday, October 25th, for $9.99 (PlayStation Plus subscribers will receive a 20% launch discount for the first 2 weeks of release).

We'd like to introduce the game to you all by answering a few key questions:

Q: Can you describe how the intriguing idea of combining Worms and golf came about?

A: We started with the fact Worms is a pretty crazy and surreal game anyway, so we felt it would be ideally suited for combining with 'crazy golf'. Coupled with the fact that both Worms and golf are both turn-based games, it seemed pretty natural to us that the two games could be mixed together into some sort of highly entertaining cocktail!

And with the fun, competitive nature of both Worms and golf gameplay, we thought it would work very well in a social multi-player setting. Fortunately, I think our instincts were proven right!

Q: Can you tell us about the game. How does the world of Worms combine with golf?

A: Anyone expecting a straight golf game will be in...

Video: Crysis Assaults PSN Today with 3D Support, Launch Trailer

400°
155w ago - Crytek UK Senior Designer Alex Hood has shared some new PS3 video trailer footage below of Crysis, which assaults PSN today with 3D support!

To quote: It is very exciting for me to be able to say that the original Crysis is coming to the PS3! Some of you may be wondering how we are going to bring the large open environments that Crysis is known for to console.

The expansive jungle sections, the pure white sand beaches, the open vehicle levels... maybe you're shaking your head that it cannot be done. I'm here to tell you that we've accomplished this and you will be able to experience the remastered, single-player campaign for Crysis on October 4th in North America and October 5th in Europe.

So how did we do it? As Egg Shen said, it wasn't easy! Without the power of the CryENGINE 3, we would never have attempted it, but with fully deferred lighting, a PS3-specific rendering pipeline and SPU-enhanced physics code, together with more efficient memory layouts and more intelligent algorithms, we brought the experience of Crysis to consoles without compromise.

With that said, we didn't just want to port the game straight onto console; we wanted to make sure we tailored the experience to suit it. We've brought the Crysis 2 Nanosuit...

Dark Souls Hits PlayStation 3 Today, Meet Its Darkest Demons

50°
155w ago - Sony Senior Social Media Specialist Sid Shuman has revealed some of the darkest demons in Dark Souls, which will officially be hitting the PlayStation 3 entertainment system today!

To quote: "All the monsters I design, from Demon's Souls to Dark Souls, are beautiful to me no matter how gruesome their appearance."

Dark Souls Director Hidetaka Miyazaki shared this bit of insight with me earlier this year in an interview and the quote has bounced through my brain for more than six months.

Since then, I've been wanting to get a closer look at the game's stunning creature designs, all of which are plucked from the further reaches of Miyazaki's fevered imagination.

Luckily, today's the day. For the viewing pleasure of readers, From Software and Namco Bandai have collected a host of rare concept artwork accompanied by design notes from Miyazaki himself. Miyazaki also wanted to pass along a greeting just for readers:

"I am hoping all of you experience meaningful deaths many times in the game. I know that the game is challenging, but I want you to keep trying to overcome any difficulty you face in the game. And please feel a great sense of achievement when overcoming a difficulty!"

Video: Recoil Games Announces Rochard Hits PS3 on PSN Today

100°
156w ago - Recoil Games Lead Designer Juhana "Hulu" Virtanen has announced today alongside a video trailer that Rochard is hitting PS3 on PSN today.

To quote: Ever run into a person annoying enough to make you want to launch a two-ton cargo container in their face? Well, it turns out the future is crawling with these guys.

And plenty of containers to boot! If you happen to be an astro miner, this means you have a good reason to rev up your trusty G-Lifter for some serious action, now that Rochard appears today on PSN!

So what is a lone astro miner to do against an invading force of Wild Boy thugs? Well, the two-ton cargo containers are just a start. The intruders find themselves on a mined out asteroid, aka home turf, filled with giant machines built to crush, cut and smash things.

And then there's your G-Lifter, which is able to casually grab objects the size of a small car and hurl them across the room. Nifty little upgrades also allow it to fire off deadly lasers and a variety of highly explosive grenade rounds. Add all this to your ability to thrash around gravity with the press of a button, and you can look forward to putting these Wild Boys in a whole new extra-terrestrial world of hurt!

While these and many other...
