Sony Announces MUBI is Now Live on PS3 in All Launch Territories

200°
215w ago - Today MUBI Founder & CEO Efe Cakarel has announced via Sony's EU blog that MUBI is now live on PS3 in all launch territories!

To quote: For all you film lovers, when the PlayStation Store updates today our new online movie theater MUBI will be offered in its remaining launch territories: Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Italy, Spain, and Portugal.

If you've happened to read our previous posts, you'll know by now that MUBI is a special kind of VOD service, offering a curated library of independent, international and classic films to stream directly to your TV.

We offer 7-day rentals and an all-you-can-watch monthly (30-day) subscription for our library of 400+ great films you may have already heard buzz about or may be about to discover. (We even have a free film or two available as well!)

MUBI isn't just about VOD though. Because we focus on independent cinema, great films that are more likely to have played at film festivals than at your local multiplex, we've built MUBI to be a social cinema, one of discovery and community.

We not only let you watch movies but also allow you and your friends keep track of each other's film activities, what they're watching and discussing, hating and loving.

You may, or may not, know that we [Register or Login to view links] for the PlayStation Network, 'Eat Them!' at E3 in June. In Eat Them! the player gets to create their own giant monster which they then use to smash, crash and munch their way though the city.

The monster is people-powered, so eating folk is a prerequisite of keeping your monster in full-on destruction mode. The game features eye-catching 'comic-style' graphics, fully customisable monster creation and lots and lots of smashing things.

The player has the option of single-player and split-screen multiplayer, head-to-head and co-operative missions. Eat Them! promises action, mayhem, destruction, humour and, did I mention?... eating people! The game is scheduled for release this winter.

So where do the ideas behind Eat Them! come from? I am a big fan of [Register or Login to view links]

SCEE Announces London Pub Radio Launch for PlayStation Home

50°
216w ago - SCEE Home Community Lead Alex Weekes has announced today that the London Pub Radio is launching for PlayStation Home.

To quote: Exciting news for music lovers and owners of The London Pub this week, as tomorrow The London Pub Radio (LPR) hits the airwaves - free to all London Pub owners!

Every month LPR will be bringing you new featured bands and artists. First up from LPR are four tracks from Barney, Ben, Graham and Dan: a four-piece London-based band known as 'RedderStare'.

They describe their sounds as "analogue, live, raw and a bit messy, largely because they are all of those things". Find out more about the band [Register or Login to view links].

That's not all, though... also launching tomorrow will be the LPR website where aspiring musicians will be able to submit their own music for a chance to have their tracks played to an audience of thousands in London Pubs around the virtual world.

The LPR team will choose an artist or band to feature each month. Further details are available on the [Register or Login to view links], however the most important rules to keep in mind are that submissions must be your own original music and you must not have a signed record contract or publishing deal.
