237w ago - Capcom's Shawn Baxter has announced that today the Monster Hunter Demo for PSP is now live on Sony's PlayStation Network.
To quote: the official demo will be live today (once the PlayStation Store is updated - keep an eye on the PlayStation.Blog) and loaded with brand new monsters. There's three quests to choose from: Hypnocatrice, Plum Hermitaur, and an Epic Hunting Quest with three monsters to slay.
Aside from new monsters, there's also pre-made characters for each weapon type to choose from. Great Sword, Long Sword, Sword, Dual Blades, Hammer, Hunting Horn, Lance, Gun Lance, Light Bowgun, Heavy Bowgun, and Bow... They're all there. We've crammed as much into the demo as we could. You'll be hunting in the forest, the desert, and in the swamp.
Monster Hunter just wouldn't be the same without co-op, so the demo is fully capable of four player ad-hoc co-op! The demo isn't going to just leave you to fend for yourself if you aren't playing ad-hoc. If you play single player, you'll have your choice to bring one of three Felyne Fighters with you. There's Kota a Melee Fighter, and then there's Ginger a Bomber, and finally Melody a Support type.
Now that you have a chance to finally hop into MHFU, we have a brand new set of videos coming to teach you some...
238w ago - Wideload Games Director Scott Corley has announced that Texas Cheat'em hits PSN today.
To quote: Texas Cheat'em from Wideload Shorts is out on PlayStation Network THIS WEEK for $9.99.
First, a bit about Wideload Shorts. We're an indie studio within an indie studio. Our team lives within the walls of Wideload Games. Wideload's founder, Alex Seropian, did some stuff once.
He started this studio called Bungie, made this game called Halo, and sold it all to some other company. But Wideload, much to the delight of those who work here, is about doing new things, and taking new chances.
The Wideload Shorts team makes small games that are imbued with Wideload's trademark humor. Our focus is on good, solid, NEW gameplay that will stand the test of time. When it comes to our gameplay, we are nurturing and protective.
Imagine that our gameplay is a baby bunny rabbit. We will bring it carrots, and lick its fur to keep it clean. If coyotes are the latest fad, and everybody insists that we MUST get a coyote ("don't worry, your baby bunny should be fine"), we won't do it. Our motto is: "coyotes eat gameplay."
238w ago - Sony today (5/14/09) announced that amid a drop in sales has had a loss of 98.9bn yen ($1.04bn; £685m) at the end of March compared to it's profit of 369.4bn yen last year.
Sony blames the currently strong yen and global economic downturn for the loss of profit this year. Sony had cut around 8,000 jobs and closed 10% of it's factories earlier this year in an attempt to slow the loss in revenue.
This current loss in profit is not unexpected though it is better than what Sony had originally predicted in January, which they said would be a loss of 150bn yen.
Sony's stocks closed today down 6.8% at 2,400 yen ahead of the results.
Sony is predicting a net loss for the current financial year of 120bn yen and as a result will continue to cut jobs and close factories. Analyst say that the only way for Sony to truly recover from this downturn would be to create a popular electronic as they currently have "no number one product" with the PS3 only being number one in Japan and slowly growing in several other countries.
However experts are agreeing that is currently a small blip and does not reflect a loss in popularity in the Nintendo Wii console due to the increase in profit that Nintendo announced earlier in the month. Time can only tell if this giant will recover or fall...
