Say hello to the official PlayStation Network logo...

361w ago - A while ago we were all wondering what the sphere shaped logo featuring the buttons of the PS controller was all about... well know we know for sure, it is the logo for the Playstation Network as a recent advertisement indicates.

Grand Theft Auto should have been out today.. It isn't.

361w ago - Today should have been another landmark world-changing day for Rockstar. If everything had gone according to plan, we'd have been on extended hiatus while Grand Theft Auto IV's incredibly detailed world sucked us in like a vacuum. But it wasn't to be.
In case you didn't know (where have you been?!) Grand Theft Auto IV was originally due to launch today, 19 October 2007. Rockstar are traditionally spot on with release dates, even those issued 12 months in advance. Not this time, though. GTA IV suffered an unexplained delay, pushing it into next year - and the reasons still aren't clear even now...

So to stave off the looming sense of disappointment over what could have been, we're going to take a trawl through all the crucial twists and turns of Rockstar's next big thing. Sure, it can't satisfy our need for GTAIV entirely, but it'll make things a bit easier. For a while...

March 29, 2007 - Things Will Be Different
We'd waited and waited, but finally Rockstar was ready to reveal Grand Theft Auto's next-gen incarnation with a teasing, evocative and speculation-feeding trailer titled "Things Will Be Different". It was immediately clear that Rockstar wasn't mincing its words.

Commando 3 for PSN/XBLA

50°
362w ago - Snuck in around the edges of Capcom's fancy Gamers Day in London this week was news of Commando 3 for Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network.

Developed by Backbone Emeryville, it's due to cost 800 Microsoft points (GBP 6.80 / EUR 9.30) on XBLA and USD 9.99 on PSN when it pitches up this winter.

According to Capcom's press bumf, Commando 3 is indeed a follow-up to the '80s shoot-'em-up originals, and allows up to three players to partake in a bit of blasting.

You'll get to take on the varied roles of the game's diverse playable characters - Animal, a former marine, Smoke, a female covert-op, and Boomer, an explosive-loving grump - and deploy power-ups like "deadly M-Crash superbombs", with controllable co-op vehicles to master and an adjustable difficulty level in case you're pants.

Naturally we're also told to expect online leaderboards, so everyone can measure just how pants you in fact are, or just how much Kristan is holding you back.

Comparison: Is the 40GB PS3 such a bad deal?

100°
362w ago - Is the 40GB PS3 really such a bad deal? We stacked a number of systems side by side to see which gaming console is the best value (at least, in terms of hardware). For example, when compared to the Xbox 360, the $399 PS3 may seem like a pretty good deal, provided you're looking for built-in wi-fi and an HD movie player. These two peripherals cost $99 and $179 each for the Xbox 360.

However, let's not forget that the 20GB Xbox 360 includes some backwards compatibility support (the 40GB PS3 does not). In addition, you get two free games with the system.

The 60GB PS3 is in an interesting position right now, as it currently costs the same as the 80GB model. For the same price, you can get a larger hard drive and a free game. The only difference? The 80GB has more limited backwards compatibility support. Patrick Seybold from SCEA reminds us that "There are no plans to lower the price of the 60GB model. The 60GB model has nearly 95% backwards compatibility, so consumers looking for that feature have the option while supplies last."

Quartermann: God of War 3, Gears of War 2 in 2008

50°
362w ago - Oh, and Skies of Arcadia fans might want to pay attention.

Another month, another batch of rumors from EGM's Quatermann. You know, even though Sony hasn't announced God of War 3, it's coming. In fact, it was already sort of announced. Anyway, the folks at SCEA Santa Monica are already hard at work at preparing Kratos' debut on PlayStation 3, which should arrive during the next holiday season, joined by a little something called Gears of War 2, as well. Oooh.

Epic Games and Microsoft haven't confirmed Gears of War 2 either, but the game's stellar sales (not to mention the cliffhanger ending) is confirmation enough.
