PS3 Dev: Sony PlayStation 3 Firmware Update 2.7 Hits This Month

289w ago - Psyonix Studios developer Corey David let the cat out of the bag this week regarding upcoming PlayStation 3 firmware update 2.7.0.

In discussing a bug with the studio's game, Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket-Powered Battle-Cars, David let slip in a [Register or Login to view links] that the update is scheduled for release later this month, to quote:

"I've been working with Sony trying to reproduce and solve the PSN sign-out issues some of you report.

Any info you can generate will be really helpful. Sony mentioned a bug they fixed with the next system software update (2.70) that might resolve these issues, but we have to narrow it down and verify it's the same problem to be sure it's that and not something we need to fix on our end.

IIRC it will drop later this month. And contain lots of fun new fixes. I'm excited about this one, lots of new stuff.

Though, I dont think I can mention any of them just yet.

It is not uncommon for developers to recieve advance copies of hardware updates so that they can ensure compatibility with their software. After the internet caught wind of the premature announcement the post was swiftly edited to remove any reference to the 2.7.0 release,...
 

BlazBlue Hits XBox 360 and PS3 in North America This Summer

289w ago - Recently publisher Aksys has revealed plans to bring the console port of arcade brawler BlazBlue, an elegant 2D fighter, to North America for both the Xbox 360 and PS3.

Like their counterparts in Japan, fighting game fans in North America can look forward to mastering super moves and combos this summer, as players beat the heat by staying indoors away from bears and tiresome physical activity.

King of Fighters XII Hits Sony PS3 And XBox 360 in July, 2009

290w ago - Entertainment has just announced a July 2009 worldwide release for King of Fighters XII, the impossibly gorgeous first HD entry in SNK Playmore's long-running 2D fighting series, on both Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

To quote: The fighter features 20 playable characters, all of whom appear as newly redrawn sprites, fighting in equally impressive 2D backgrounds.

According to the press release, preview footage and images for this unbelievably hot game are included in the PS2 release of King of Fighters '98 Ultimate Match, itself a fairly nice-looking KOF - which happens to be out today.

290w ago - Criterion Games has annonced today that the Burnout Paradise 'Toy Pack' arrives this Thursday, to quote:

The Toys Pack will be released on console this Thursday!

Keep an eye on the Twitter tab and our in-game Criterion Games Network for up-to-the-minute info on when these are available in the in-game store, PlayStation Store and Xbox live Marketplace.
