TGS 2008: Final Fantasy XIII Live Premiere Underwhelmed

100°
305w ago - Update: Final Fantasy XIII's composer Masashi Hamauzu was presenting the live event. He didn't say much but has said the main theme doesn't have a title yet and probably won't until the game is completed. He also had a 5 minute "interview" talking about the process of composing a song. That's all we have so far.

According to ff13.xrea.jp, the Live Premiere Final Fantasy XIII event that was taking place today only lasted 20 minutes and included the trailers without voices.

The event lasted 25 minutes less than it was supposed to and included no new announcements from Square-Enix. They did preview two new tracks including the main theme though.

Sadly, that was the main point of the show...it was a live music event. We'll update you as we get more info.

TGS 2008: PS3 Peripheral Charging AC Adapter Announced

100°
306w ago - Those of you with only two USB ports can now rejoice... Sony is releasing an AC Adapter (pictured below) for the Japanese market on December 18th for 2,800 yen (about $28 USD).

This peripheral will allow you to charge your DualShock 3/SIXAXIS controllers or any other accessories independent of your PS3, thereby freeing up those precious USB ports.

The wireless keypad will also debut in Japan on the same day for 5,500 yen (about $55 USD).

Keep in mind prices in Japan tend to be higher, so when these products debut in the US, they will likely retail for less.

Seemingly Shocking Graphics Appear in TGS 2008 RE5 Trailer

306w ago - I am as excited for Resident Evil 5 as any of you, it will probably be my Game Of The Year for 2009, and as March is quickly approaching, the excitement has been building. Then I saw the latest TGS Resident Evil 5 trailer from TGS '08...

When I saw the opening of this new trailer I honestly thought I was seeing a flash back to an older PS1 game, perhaps a earlier Resident Evil title done in HD (like the MGS1 flashback in MGS4). But no, this was Resident Evil 5.

I was shocked at the use of the "X" cut tree's that were made famous by Grand Theft Auto 3. The gravel road was all jagged and stood out like a sore thumb over the blurred grassy texture and trees. Something was terribly wrong with that scene. After replying the video, I hear wind, but I see no trees move at all either.

The whole birds-eye scene looked bland and terrible. For the desert being such a bland environment anyway (compared to some, like jungle etc), what environment that is there, needs to look great, and get across to the players that the desert is real, but this did not succeed at all.

Thankfully, once the trailer left that scene the graphics picked back up to what they should be: Fantastic. Now I just hope we don't have to see the use of those "X" cut tree's very often throughout the game. Such...
