Street Fighter IV Producer Wants Tekken in PlayStation Home

50°
305w ago - Street Fighter IV producer Yoshinori Ono has told Famitsu (via IGN, linked above) that he would like to see Namco's flagship fighter Tekken and PlayStation social network service Home come together.

He stated he'd like to see a Tekken 6 tie-up with Home, suggesting that both the Street Fighter and Tekken communities could form some sort of cross-community tournament. A sort of Fight Club perhaps?

Ono also revealed the possibility of a Street Fighter-themed game space. With Capcom already working on exclusive content for Home, this one is practically a given.

To quote: Ono also discussed some of the possibilities for Home Clubs. He suggested that if Tekken 6 were to have a tie-up with Home, perhaps they could create some form of tournament pitting the Tekken 6 community versus the Street Fighter IV community.

Jokingly, he suggested that the Tekken 6 development staff who were reading the article should give Home compatibility consideration.

Street Fighter and Resident Evil Invade PlayStation Home on PS3

50°
307w ago - Capcom plans on supporting PlayStation Home on the PS3 in a big way. [Register or Login to view links] has revealed brand new Home content based on Capcom's upcoming games, Street Fighter IV and Resident Evil 5.

To quote: SFIV will receive a post-release patch that will allow players to meet in Home and then jump directly into a Street Fighter match.

In addition to game launching, Capcom will also sell costumes to wear in the Home world. This isn't the first time Capcom has released Street Fighter costume DLC on a PlayStation system - LittleBigPlanet also features a handful of premium costumes for purchase.

Capcom is also developing a Resident Evil 5 game space, which looks remarkably like the game's opening level. Here, players will be able to congregate and participate in various RE themed events. We're not sure if those events will involve eating other Home users alive, but we hope so.

Street Fighter II HD (EU) Stuck in Sony QA Due to Problems

100°
307w ago - Although American players have been able to enjoy Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix for quite some time now, European PS3 owners have been left in the dark. We've heard the cries before: "blame Sony," they'd say.

ThePSN.co.uk (linked above) had a chat with Capcom UK's Leo Tan to find out why SCEE is denying release of the game. To quote:

The nice Leo Tan at Capcom UK advised us that the release was currently dependant on "Sony QA", having been submitted twice before for release but winding up banjoed by SCEE due to "faults and other problems" that required the game to be "redone".

Capcom plan to submit a further version "hopefully within three weeks" that they expect to pass QA, but they "can't give any assurances as [we] thought the last one would pass".

Rumors still abound that the game was delayed due to arriving in Europe just after Sony's "no Trophies, no release" rule came into effect, so perhaps we'll get a definitive, Trophy-ready version by February.

Street Fighter IV Invades the PlayStation 3 in San Francisco

308w ago - Sony Social Media Manager Jeff Rubenstein caught up with Seth Killian, who (quite favorably) compared the PS3 version of the game with the arcade, as well as John Diamonon in the following video:

Oh, and a PROTIP: The optional install for SFIV is well worth a bit of your hard drive space - it drives load times in between matches down to almost nothing.

One final note from Capcom: PlayStation gamers will soon be able to experience Resident Evil 5 for themselves as the intense new two-level demo will be downloadable on the PlayStation Network for the PLAYSTATION 3 on February 2, 2009.

With three modes of action- single-player with AI controlled support, split-screen two-player co-op and two-player co-op across PlayStation Network- the demo will give fans an in-depth glimpse into the game a month before it launches on Friday, March 13, 2009.
