PyMenu v0.4 in Development for PS Vita eCFW, Details Arrive

250°
14w ago - Today some details and pictures have arrived on PyMenu v0.4 which is in development for PS Vita eCFW, as outlined below to quote:

Download: pyMenu v0.3.1 for CEF / pyMenu v0.3.1 for VHBL

One of the most widely used menus for eCFW on the PS Vita is about to receive a full update, lots of new features, improved code, optimizations, and much more will come with pyMenu 0.4 and you’re about to see what it can offer, but first we’ll do a walkthrough of all the version pyMenu has had and how it has evolved from being a very simplistic menu, to a full fledged XMB replacement.

pyMenu 0.1: The beginning

pyMenu was created in June 2012 as an entry to the VHBL Menu Contest and competed against yMenu (which was also created for that contest). Most of the work in pyMenu had gone to installing the pspsdk and modifying the python interpreter to be able to load homebrews in VHBL.

The little time I had and the time the SDK + interpreter consumed left me with very little time for the actual menu. pyMenu was a pioneer in...

Video: Killzone: Mercenary - Cash is King on PlayStation Vita

50°
15w ago - Sony Social Media Manager Sid Shuman shared a video below today spotlighting Killzone: Mercenary where he states cash is king on PlayStation Vita.

To quote: Not long ago the US and European press got its first hands-on experiences with Killzone: Mercenary, Guerrilla Games Cambridge's upcoming PS Vita shooter. Despite gracing Vita's portable screen, the team behind Mercenary is hellbent on providing a full FPS experience with all the trimmings.

Come September, you'll get a full nine-mission story-driven campaign, an eight-player competitive multiplayer mode, and a collection of bonus challenge missions.

Watch our new video to get the inside story straight from Art Director Tom Jones.

Much has already been said concerning Killzone: Mercenary's graphical fidelity, but I'll add my voice to the choir: This is one fine, fine-looking game. Because Mercenary runs on a modified version of the Killzone 3 rendering engine, you'll see modern niceties such as volumetric lighting and smoke, high-res environment textures, gleaming metal and realistic-looking shadows.

None of this would be out of place for a modern PS3 shooter, but portable gaming rarely sees this level of extreme graphical detail....

Introducing Thomas Was Alone, Coming Soon to PS3 and PS Vita

100°
16w ago - Designer Mike Bithell has officially introduced Thomas Was Alone today, which is coming soon to both PS3 and PS Vita consoles.

To quote: The first console I ever bought for myself was a PlayStation 2. I remember digesting every single game on the packaged demo disk in fevered anticipation, while saving up the money to buy Metal Gear Solid 2 to go with it. For the record, I always thought Raiden was cool.

Now I've wowed you with my PlayStation fanboy credentials, I hope you'll understand the excitement I feel at uttering the following words: This Spring, Thomas Was Alone is coming to PlayStation 3 and PS Vita (with cross buy).

Which is, if we're honest, ridiculous. I made a game about rectangles and friendship in my free time. I was lucky enough to find some incredible collaborators who made my script sound good, and my environments sound far more awesome than their humble rectangular graphics.

I was shocked when a community formed and people actually played it. According to the Internet, they liked it too.

And, thanks to the cool people at Bossa, Curve and Sony, that game is coming to a console near you, very, very soon.

Thomas Was Alone is a platformer where the goal is simple - get all the characters to their exit portals. You'll find...
