16w ago - Jaywalkers Interactive Co-Founders Vincent Bonefaas and Laurens Bruins announced today that Kick & Fennick launches on PS Vita in 2014.
To quote: We didn't count, but we must have saved the world thousands of times. Like many of us, we spent most of our childhood being superheroes dressed in cardboard armor with a towel around our neck, having the most amazing and epic adventures.
Thankfully, now that we're adults *cough*, video games still allow us to immerse ourselves in imaginary worlds, without looking like fools throwing pinecone grenades at each other. But this image of us as kids, running around the woods with a big stick, is thoroughly stuck in our minds.
This is where the idea for Kick & Fennick originated, remembering the fun we had saving the world, and our friends, with our massive stick weapons.
There are no complications as a kid, but if a real ten-year old boy would fire one of our imaginary super guns, he would surely launch himself through the air just from the weapon's recoil... which would be pretty damn cool!
We love big, cinematic game experiences. We're just a two-man team, but we couldn't have Kick just jumping around a bit using his weapon.
No, he needs to jump across huge skyscrapers, breaking through walls...
16w ago - Revolution Software Co-Founder Charles Cecil shared details today at Gamescom 2013 on upcoming title Broken Sword: The Serpent's Curse on PS Vita below.
To quote: Broken Sword: The Serpent's Curse starts with intrepid lawyer, George Stobbart, and sassy journalist, Nico Collard, caught in the deadly robbery of a seemingly worthless painting.
But we, the audience, also see a scene from the Second World War in which Spanish fascists storm a Catalan villa, killing the family, and seizing that same painting.
As George and Nico are drawn into the murderous conspiracy, those around them claim that the painting is cursed by the Devil himself. George and Nico soon come to believe that they may just be right.
Broken Sword: The Serpent's Curse is very much an adventure - traditional in terms of its core spirit, but wholly contemporary in terms of graphics and gameplay.
The game was first announced as part of a Kickstarter appeal in August 2012 and, after attracting over 15,000 backers, doubled its goal. We were thrilled at the response of fans - particularly after hearing so often that the adventure game had died as a genre.
As well as funding a major part of the development, the appeal brought together a wonderful community of Broken Sword fans - epitomised...
16w ago - Abstraction Games Creative Director Tj'ien Twijnstra confirmed today that Gunslugs is coming soon to PS Vita.
Below are the details, to quote: Hi everyone, I'm Tj'ien, creative director at Abstraction Games, and I'm more than excited to tell you that we'll be bringing Orange Pixel's highly addictive, retro-inspired, side-scrolling roguelike Gunslugs to PS Vita.
We came into contact with Gunslugs' creator Pascal Bestebroer - "indie game developer extraordinaire" - through the nice people at Sony Computer Entertainment, who suggested he get in touch with us after they were amazed by the work we did on Hotline Miami for PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita.
We were tremendously honored to be referred by Sony and we were thrilled to be working with Pascal as he has created so many great, retro-inspired gems, that we felt we had no other choice than to jump onboard straightaway.
After we had worked on Knytt Underground and Hotline Miami, we're all really excited about the tremendous potential of the PS Vita and its unique input systems.
But the more traditional, natural feeling of the physical buttons, combined with the amazing OLED display, make the idea of bringing Gunslugs over a no-brainer from our perspective. In fact,...
16w ago - Vlambeer's Rami Ismail announced today at Gamescom 2013 that Wasteland Kings is hitting PlayStation 4 and PS Vita in 2014.
To quote: Vlambeer has been around for almost three years.
It's sort of a weird realization for the two of us that the past three years of our lives – practically every moment after we decided to run a games company full time - has been dedicated to making the games people know us for.
It's been an amazing run that's taken us from extreme highs to emotional lows, and introduced us to so many amazing people - whether they're developers or industry or fans.
Vlambeer is something weird. You see, the two of us are polar opposites. Whereas JW is an artistic and creative force full of weird ideas, I tend to do business and programming. If you've ever put two people like that in a single room, you know they don't tend to get along well.
That was true for the two of us as well, and we created this third person that resulted from the collision between us. That third person is what Vlambeer truly is - it's neither Jan Willem nor me. It's a separate "person."
The reason I'm explaining all this is because it is important to explain what the game we just announced for PS4 and PS Vita is.
16w ago - Arrowhead Game Studios CEO and Game Director Johan Pilestedt posted up a video today at Gamescom 2013 announcing that Helldivers is coming to PS4, PS3 and PlayStation Vita in 2014.
To quote: You may know of Arrowhead Game Studios from our previous games like Magicka and today we're excited to announce that we've teamed up with Sony Computer Entertainment and Foster City Studios to create our next game!
So, for all of you out there, both new fans and old, I give you Helldivers. Built for both single-player campaigns and up to four player co-op missions, Helldivers is a top-down shooter set in a satirical and dystopian future where mankind is ruled by a managed democracy.
Of course, this world also happens to be in a perpetual war against three alien species, one of which we revealed in our Gamescom trailer!
As part of the elite unit called the Helldivers, you choose your deployment zone and dive into battle on procedurally-generated battlefields. Once there, utilize overpowered weapons and Stratagems to defeat the enemies of mankind.
Working together as a team will be vital, whether calling in strikes or placing weapons, each action must be totally synchronized to achieve objectives....
