The Witness on PlayStation 4: Tiny Details in a Very Big PS4 World

50°
48w ago - Thekla Inc President Jonathan Blow shared some fresh PS4 details today of the very big world of The Witness on PlayStation 4.

To quote: It has been a while since we made a post on PlayStation.Blog, so I thought I would give an update about what we are working on.

The Witness takes place on an island full of puzzles. The island is an open world; you can go anywhere you want, and the game does not try to force you into a linear path.

For the past couple of years, we have had the island mostly built in a gameplay sense, and we were trying it out, moving things around, developing location concepts, tweaking puzzles. At this point, most of that stuff is figured out, so we are now going through all the areas of the island and detailing them.

What we learned in this process is that the island is in fact very big, for a place where you carefully visit every location during gameplay! Correspondingly, for a small independent team like ours, detailing this huge space is a lot of work!

Just the other week, we played through the game from start to finish, to get a fresh perspective and to see everything that is here (because...

Video: Warframe on PS4 Details, PlayStation 4 Developer Q&A Out

50°
52w ago - Sony Social Media Specialist Ryan Clements is here with a video today detailing Warframe on PS4 alongside a PlayStation 4 developer Q&A below.

To quote: When you read the word "ninja," what comes to mind? Exotic weaponry? Stealth and cunning? How about space-faring exo-armor and earth-shaking spells?

These images all fit perfectly into Warframe, a fast-paced, third-person action game launching with PS4 on November 15th.

We wanted to know more about this free-to-play, multiplayer suite, so we sent some questions over to Digital Extremes to get a better grasp on the world of Warframe.

Associate Producer Pat Kudirka took time out of his busy schedule to answer our inquiries, which we've listed below for your reading pleasure.

PlayStation.Blog: How would you describe Warframe to a newcomer in a single sentence?

Pat Kudirka: Space ninjas.

PSB: How has the team responded to working with PS4? What sort of opportunities, and challenges, come with the new platform?

Kudirka: Warframe is an original, self-published title from Digital Extremes. On previous titles we've always had a publisher, which was required to ship titles...

Video: Assassin's Creed IV Black Flag: PS3 / PS4 Stealth Details

100°
57w ago - Ubisoft Community Developer Gabriel Graziani posted up a video today spotlighting Assassin's Creed IV Black Flag for both PS3 and PS4 platforms complete with Stealth details below.

To quote: Game Director Ashraf Ismail takes you on a stealthy tour through underwater caverns and the Spanish city of Havana in Assassin's Creed IV Black Flag.

In the following video, you'll get a tiny glimpse of the stealthy new skills we've included in Black Flag, which enable Edward Kenway to slip in and out of assassination contracts while causing minimal commotion.

Sneaking silently is nearly as important to Edward's successful execution of assassination contracts as his skill with his dual cutlasses (not to mention the extra money you can earn from a Stealth Bonus). Consequently, we've provided a variety of new mechanics to help Edward remain out-of-site and off-the-radar, like:

•Updated Eagle Vision - enables tagging of enemies and targets so you can see them through walls.
•Hiding door - a new hiding spot for quickly taking out guards while also hiding the body.
•Berserk Blowpipe Darts - diverts attention by causing an enemy to attack anything nearby, like fellow guards!

62w ago - Sony Marketing Promotions Specialist Michael Steranka announced today that PlayStation 4 will be present at Comic-Con 2013 including the first public PS4 hands-on presentation with details below.

To quote: As [Register or Login to view links] regulars know, there's nothing more valuable at the yearly convention than time. With panel lines literally out the door and the Exhibitor Hall packed wall-to-wall with scurrying people, it's often hard to decide how to allocate your precious time. This year, we're making that decision a no-brainer. Want to know why?

You guessed it (probably because it's in the headline of this post!) - we're bringing PS4 to Comic-Con 2013.

For the first time ever, gamers can go hands-on with the PS4. On top of that, we'll be showing off some of this year's most highly anticipated PS3 and PS Vita titles, as well as participating in a number of panels throughout the weekend. If that's not enough, we're also hosting contests at the PlayStation booth every day where we'll be giving away PS Vitas!

To help you plan your Comic-Con experience accordingly, here's a list of everything PlayStation at this year's convention:

Watch_Dogs for PS4 and PS3: Details on the Future-Tech Action Epic

200°
71w ago - Sony Social Media Manager Sid Shuman shared details today on Watch_Dogs for PS4 and PS3 detailing the the future-tech action epic below.

To quote: Watch_Dogs's dark vision of technological totalitarianism is heading to PS3 and PS4, and we were lucky enough to see the first live gameplay demo in San Francisco earlier this week (played on a DualShock 4, no less!). We've carefully studied the footage, asked pressing questions, and present you with this breakdown.

1. Aiden Pierce isn't your typical videogame protagonist

"Aiden is a man with a dark past who has made questionable choices," Lead Story Designer Kevin Shortt explained in our first live gameplay demo.Growing up in Chicago, Aiden used his technical prowess to infiltrate bank accounts and access surveillance systems, becoming something of a vigilante. Naturally, these pursuits earned him some powerful enemies on both sides of the law.

As you play Watch_Dogs, you won't be choosing between stark extremes on some binary morality scale, but defining where Aiden resides on much murkier spectrum of acceptability.

2. Chicago isn't your typical videogame city

We've all played open-world action games where cities feel more like a collection of giant painted boxes than a...
