97w ago - Today PlayStation 3 homebrew developers RobS and An0nym0us have made available a PS3 RSOD (Red Screen of Death) fix for those experiencing the issue on Sony's current-gen entertainment system and gaming console.
Below are further details via PS3 Dev Wiki: RSOD Fix
The RSOD Fix - Observations about RSOD:
Seems to appear mostly on consoles with Samsung NORS (CECHLxx-CECH20xx) May be caused by an error being thrown while writing to NOR (this is theory) Mostly caused by a corrupt area of flash called VTRM
The original RSOD "fix" was actually a CFW patch to bypass the RSOD. basic_plugins.sprx was modified to ignore the error condition to allow the console to boot. While this worked, certain things like trophies still didn't work correctly.
The actual RSOD fix occurs by the VTRM area on flash being rewritten. The ability to do this is already built into the firmware, it just needs to be called.
98w ago - Sorry for being quiet the last few days guys, but I'm still working on things for AC1D CFW and also found some changes to newer PUPs so I have modded the source of KaKaRoToKS Fix_TAR to reflect this in the Fix TAR v3 PS3 homebrew application for Retail and Debug 4.0 Firmware.
102w ago - This holiday weekend Spanish PlayStation 3 developer JaicraB has released PS3 Preloader Advance, a rewritten LV2Diag.self that allows restoring the Dev_Flash.bin file (to fix semi-bricked PS3 consoles) and has been tested on JFW DH CFW although it should work on all Custom Firmware he states.
To quote, roughly translated: Already available the tool to reset any "/ dev_flash". It is but a program that runs without external modules.
Why we find it being unable to load basic libraries housed in the "/ dev_flash" we must use direct syscalls to the kernel. The compilation is clean STUB external modules, hence it only takes a few KB ...
The function is to load the file "/ dev_usb000/flash1.bin" and write in RAW mode to the "/ dev_flash". But not before mounting the "/ dev_flash" Write mode.
It's simple but effective. There are dangers of bricks, but backup mistake or left unfinished for various reasons.
In principle works in all FIRMS, but mainly is designed to JFW-DH356MA by semibricks problems and instead of HDD when the system stored inside the "/ dev_flash".
102w ago - Following up on the previous Sonic Generations PS3 CFW fix comes a proper EBOOT fix with saving support today from Chinese PlayStation 3 hacker chnps3hax for 3.55 and 3.41 Custom Firmware users.
Note: This game is the first generation with md sonic, the corresponding file is genesis.sprx this document did not turn over, so into that game theory may be out, but no one will play with the PS3 md picture of things it.
A brief guide is below:
1. Download fix files (EBOOT.BIN + PARAM.SFO)
2. Replace the original files with the ones in the download.
3. Boot with multiMAN (Select + X method) and Enjoy.
