Rumor: PlayStation Motion Controller is Codenamed 'Sphere'

251w ago - Sony's upcoming PlayStation Motion Controller may be codenamed 'sphere' according to JoyStiq (linked above).

Currently both Microsoft and Sony don't have official names for their motion projects, although Microsoft has dubbed their technology as 'Project Natal'.

To quote: "One name Sony may be using with developers is "Sphere," a word that highlights the glowing, colored orb central to the motion controller's technology.

Sega producer Yasuhito Baba and his translator both referred to the controller as "Sphere" during an interview at Tokyo Game Show last month.

Polyphony Digital's Kazunori Yamauchi also talked about the PlayStation Motion Controller when we asked him if Gran Turismo would support the "Sphere" peripheral."

Will the PS3 Motion Controller be known as 'sphere' or is it simply a developmental name? Time will tell...
 

Video: PSPGo Play with PS3 Controller Connected via Bluetooth

252w ago - Today Japanese site PSPGadgetZ (linked above) have posted a video demonstrating how to play the PSPGo console using a PS3 controller.

Now this is pretty cool, being able to play the PSP Go using the PS3's controller via Bluetooth.

With that, and the Bluetooth capabilities of connecting to your phone to be online, this is truly the handheld to beat now!

253w ago - Yesterday at Tokyo Game Show 2009 Sony revealed the redesigned PS3 motion controller and launch titles, and today some video footage is available (below) of the wand being used for Resident Evil 5 and LittleBigPlanet.

The captions for each video are below, roughly translated as follows:

Over at the Tokyo Game Show, the presenters showed off Resident Evil 5 with the new motion sensing controller coming up for the PS3 - the 'wand'.

TGS 2009: PS3 Motion Controller & Launch Titles Detailed

253w ago - Sony didn't unveil many details on the upcoming PlayStation Motion Controller at the Tokyo Game Show, however, Kaz Hirai did show off the updated design (pictured below) for the controller.

Additionally, Sony revealed that Biohazard 5: Alternative Edition will support the new Motion Controllers and is due out in Spring 2010.

LittleBigPlanet will also be updated with motion controls, providing a Super Mario Galaxy style second controller option, as well as (hopefully) speeding up the level creation process.
