LittleBigPlanet GOTY Edition Box Art Offers $30 in Bonus Content

250°
268w ago - The LittleBigPlanet GOTY (Game Of The Year) Edition Box Art has recently been uncovered by Kotaku (linked above), and appears to sport a lower price and offer $30 in downloadable content.

According to [Register or Login to view links], online retailer [Register or Login to view links] (dead link now) brought to light a few bits of information on the title which has since been taken down from the site completely.

To quote: While details on what that extra content thrown in for free will be aren't specified in the Amazon.com listing, the lower price and extra goodies really should convince you to pick up a copy of LittleBigPlanet already. I mean, have you seen how cute these Sackboy things are? Seriously. Just precious.

The original report on the LittleBigPlanet re-release indicated that "much" of the downloadable content already available would be bundled with the core game. Whether that includes the dozens of available downloadable costumes or simply some of the game's user-created levels is unclear. The "valued at" makes us wonder.

Amazon doesn't offer a date, but it's...

Ratchet and Clank: A Crack in Time Offers Pre-Rendered Graphics

100°
271w ago - Ratchet and Clank: A Crack in Time finally brings the graphical quality of pre-rendered CGI to video game consoles.

Insomniac's hard work has finally produced CGI quality graphics rendered in real-time on the PlayStation 3. Sure, it might not quite be at Wall-E level yet, but Toy Story 2 quality pre-rendered graphics have definately been reached.

To quote: Insomniac Games, who have produced more games for the PS3 than any other developer (Resistance 1, Ratchet and Clank: Tools of Destruction, Resistance 2) brings their fourth game, Ratchet and Clank: A Crack in Time (or what they like to call Clock Blockers) with an even more polished engine.

The pre-defined animation and limited scope of the cutscenes mean that Insomniac can pull more out of the PS3 for their real-time rendered cutscenes in A Crack in Time, though the gameplay graphics are just as spectacular.

The latest gameplay footage of A Crack in Time video is below also:

Sony: PS3 Offers Unprecedented Value, Secures Blu-ray Format

100°
287w ago - Sony's Jack Tretton has commented that the PS3 will help secure the Blu-ray format just as the PS2 did with the DVD format.

He also expressed that the PS3 offers 'unprecedented value' and as such there are no immediate plans to reduce the price of the PS3.

To quote: "Just as PlayStation 2 is delivering on a 10-year lifecycle and helped expand and solidify the DVD format for home entertainment along the way," he said, "we believe Playstation 3 offers the same promise by helping secure the Blu-ray format."

Tretton went on to say that the PS3 offers "unprecedented value" as the total home entertainment solution for the next decade, clarifying perhaps that the business has no immediate plans to reduce the price of the PS3.

GDC '09: Sony Offers Huge Incentive for PSN Exclusivity

50°
287w ago - Remember that biased and irrational media blowup concerning the PSN bandwidth fee? Yeah, well, who thinks publishers won't want to put their games on the PSN now?

As reported by [Register or Login to view links], Sony will match the development budget of a self-published video game if that title remains exclusive to the PlayStation Network.

The first game to take advantage of the deal is the recently released Burn Zombie Burn!, and Sony says they're "looking for a great many more titles," so pay attention, self-publishers! Chris Eden, Sony development relations manager, says they're ready to put their money where their mouth is:

"It's all very well for us as platform holders to say 'put all your money into PlayStation Network, it's a fantastic idea', but are we prepared to put or money where our mouth is? The answer is yes. We're looking for a number of great games, and in return for exclusivity we'll match your development budget with guaranteed royalties."

This deal is called the "Pub Fund" and just to be clear, Sony is not purchasing exclusive rights for the games in question (a practice Microsoft...
