Top 10 Ways to Piss Off Gamers on Forums!

50°
333w ago - Nobody paying attention to you in forums? Well worry not. Gamers World Bangladesh brings you a list of the hot-button topics that is sure to get a surge of comments headed your way, and possibly more than what you bargained for.

1. Brand Loyalty (Equals Fanboyism)

Whatever you do, never say you love [insert favorite console here] instead of the PS3/Xbox 360/Wii/PSP/DS for fear of being branded as a fanboy. You'll be instantly drowned in hate messages from other people defending their PS3/Xbox 360/Wii/PSP/DS (aka other fanboys). I think of fanboyism as brand loyalty. Variations also include ATI vs Nvidia.

2. Microsoft sucks

Anything with Microsoft (or Vista) in the headline and defaming the company is a surefire way to get attention. Who cares if its chairman is the largest donator to charity. So what if almost everyone uses Windows, Microsoft Office and Internet Explorer (although Firefox is gaining). The point is they can't do anything right and makes a great topic to stir up the hornets nest.

3. PC Gaming Is Doomed

The classical way to start a 'heated' discussion. Just kick back and relax while the argument takes off with why PC gaming is doomed/isn't doomed and how a big noob you are for starting the topic in the first place.

Vuzix iWear: Next-gen for Gamers, Portable Cinema Screen

50°
340w ago - Although a bit pricey (Virtual 44" Screen is $249.95, Virtual 62" Screen is $349.95, "PC Only" is $399.95), would this be the next-gen for extreme gamers?

From the Web site: Vuzix iWear is a stunningly impressive range of face-furniture that allows you to watch whatever you like whenever you like, in the privacy of your own... erm, head.

Simply slip on these lightweight cyber-shades and prepare to be totally blown away by a fully immersive audiovisual assault. That's right, we said audiovisual because these slimline shades even boast integrated (but removable) earphones.

Intel's Price Cuts are Hidden Treasure to Gamers

50°
341w ago - The PC Gamer reader mail bag is still overflowing with anxious letters from readers who are feeling a little, you know, inadequate in the processor department.

Some of them want to know if they should go from AMD to Intel or Intel to AMD; some want to know if they should go from dual-core to quad-core; and in extreme cases, some want to know if they should go from single-core to multi-core.

The answer is usually tricky, as it depends on what you use your PC for (I'm assuming gaming, with maybe some audio and video flirtation on the side), what kind of videocard you have, etc. But Intel's recent price cuts - these were major cuts - have made things a lot simpler for the time being.

Here are some of the official prices, which are based on 1,000 unit quantities for large polygamist families. Intel's Core 2 Quad Q6700 plummeted from $530 down to $266, and the Core 2 Quad Q6600 dipped down to $224 from $266. The dual-core E6850 went down to $183 from $266.

You can expect to pay a bit more at retail; my personal favorite, for example, the lovely and cosmopolitan Q6700, is going for $280 at Newegg, shipped.

These prices ought to keep Intel in a holding pattern for a while, and there aren't any murmurs about major price cuts from AMD yet, so if you've been waiting...
