3w ago - Compulsion Games Producer Derek Elliott announced that Contrast is out today on PS4, and is free for PlayStation Plus Members.
To quote: Contrast, our PS4 launch title, is out today. If you were born in the '70s (as I was), or have watched "Arrested Development," you'll know the song "The Final Countdown." It is cornily (Is that a word?) appropriate when your game is close to launch status.
It can pump you up and can also bring you back to all the good and bad that was the '80s. Much simpler times when two programmers would make all of the design, art, animation, sound, and code for a game. And back then, game design counted for something. Be damned you kids these days and your fancy save games and discs you don't have to blow on to play.
Games like Paperboy, Dig Dug, and - one of my personal favorites - Racing Destruction Set were profoundly fun because they were simple. But simple didn't mean easy. These games somehow got made because of a genuine fire to develop something new and have fun in a brand new industry.
The early Godfathers of video games were passionate because they accomplished something special, were published, and people responded to their creations.
3w ago - Sony Game Director Mark Cerny confirmed alongside some new videos that Knack is out today for PS4 / PlayStation 4.
To quote: PlayStation 4 launches; you might say that "next gen" has officially become "current gen"! Game creators have been hard at work, and I think game players have a lot to look forward to.
One of the launch titles is of course Knack, the game that I and the internal Japan Studio have been hard at work on for the last three and a half years. I love character action games, and over the years I've helped create a number of them, including Crash Bandicoot on the original PlayStation, and Jak and Daxter and Ratchet & Clank on PS2.
Our goal on this project was to bring back that kind of classic gameplay, but with a next-gen twist. Knack has the ability to pick up pieces of the environment and grow larger, so over the course of a level he can grow from a three foot tall "mascot" type character to a thirty foot tall rampaging monster.
This is a kind of gameplay I'd never tried to create before, it gives a very unique feel from the game. We've also focused on the narrative that drives the action - there is a full CGI film worth of story embedded in the game.

3w ago - Housemarque Community Manager Tommaso De Benetti announced today that Resogun is out now on PS4 / PlayStation 4 with details below.
To quote: To celebrate the official release of RESOGUN and PS4 in North America, I am delighted to to share yet more details about the game, from the team at Housemarque, and of course, some more great explosions!
I know a lot of readers skip right ahead to the videos, but I am going to start with a piece of concept art, depicting a whole bunch of initial enemy designs.
A few of these may not have made the cut for the final game but most of them lie in wait for you to blast them to pieces.
Did I mention blasting? Ok, it's definitely time for some explosions then and the most epic RESOGUN video yet!
The best thing about RESOGUN of course is that the gameplay is just as epic as the explosions and so the last video I will share here today is all about the gameplay.
RESOGUN has lots of subtle tricks to master in order to achieve the best score possible and as you can see in the video, it's possible to play with a lot of style that is sure to amaze people watching over your...
