274w ago - The long-awaited PAIN trophy patch is now available to download. Simply load up the game and you will be prompted to download the 325MB patch. Don't forget, PAIN's trophies have been retooled, to make them a bit easier than originally intended. The patch also adds a bunch of content to the game -- but only if you pay for it.
Three new characters are available to purchase, along with the new "Abusement Park" (though none of these are available on any region's PSN Store as of yet). There are also new game modes which, we assume, come with the Amusement Park expansion.
There is one free addition to the feature roster, however. Each week a new mini-level will be made available. Each of these "PAINlabs" will be an experimental concept that Idol Minds are playing with and are releasing for you, the players, to test out.
An interesting idea -- and best of all? It's free. Though, having said that, we doubt anyone would pay any money for these, judging from the first one.
279w ago - Posted by Travis Williams (Sr. Producer, SCEA) today:
Hello everyone it's Travis Williams, PAIN Producer, again and I wanted to take some time to tell you about the new PlayStation Network Trophies being added to PAIN Downtown.
The last trophy I ever "earned" was in ROTC. That was way back in High School (tragic I know). So, I have been really excited to see PlayStation 3 trophies make their way into games both old and new. It's a new way to show your "ePump-a-tude". PAIN already features internal trophies that make the modes challenging.
That's why it's so awesome to get to make a whole new set of trophies. Here's a list of some of the Trophies you will see next month. If the names seem sophomoric or juvenile to you, then you clearly haven't been playing PAIN enough. That's kinda "How We Do."
To answer some questions before they come up...
Q: When will Trophies be available for PAIN?
A: When the Amusement Park ships on 9-4-2008 we will update PAIN to include trophies.
Q: When does Amusement Park ship?
Q: Are Trophies retroactive?
A: Most of the trophy requirements are new so we haven't tracked your progress until now. Some work you will get credit for.
284w ago - Nestled deep in the comments section of the official PAIN Blog, Producer Travis Williams has been busy responding to the community. There's plenty of back-and-forth banter, but there are also some hidden gems of info which we thought you might be interested in.
PAIN's expansion pack, the Amusement Park, will be available this Summer for "less than $6.99" and a video of it in action will be shown on the official PlayStation Blog at some point tomorrow. A European release will happen simultaneously.
With regards to trophies, this will be included in the expansion pack and won't end there. Travis says that "new trophies for PAIN will come out as long as we continue to add content."
Hopefully this is a common occurrence, with future game expansions for existing titles bringing more trophies. Could this mean more Super Stardust HD trophies are coming at some point in the future? Considering there's no Platinum trophy, we're guessing so.

289w ago - Dani, the Administrator at the Konami forums, has clarified a few things about the MGS4 Limited Edition PS3.
The bundle is extremely limited, with "less than 10k (its actually a bit less than that, even)" being made available.
Also, it is not just a paint job it is made from a "different material, which has more of a matte finish and feel as opposed to the standard glossy one."
The DualShock3 controller which comes with it is also Gun Metal Gray like the console.
To quote: Hi - We've been following the threads here about the LE MGS4 PS3 bundle at Konami.com, saw some confusion, and just got approval to clear some stuff up...
First, there seems to be some speculation as to how limited this limited edition MGS4/PS3 bundle is. I can't divulge exact stock numbers, but I can verify that quantities are in the four digits, which means less than 10k (its actually a bit less than that, even). Once that's gone, its gone. Seriously, we don't have any more than that.
Second, some seem to think that the Gun Metal Gray is just a "paint job", which it is not. It is a different material, which has more of a "matte" finish and feel as opposed to the standard "glossy" one.
Also, the bundle comes with a DualShock3 controller which also is Gun Metal...
