271w ago - Sorry PS3 gamers, but according to Treyarch and the people at Activision, the upcoming online multiplayer BETA for Call of Duty: World at War will be for XBox 360 and PC owners only.
For those of you who remember, Infinity Ward pulled a similar move last year by hosting the Call of Duty 4 BETA only on the XBox 360. After speaking with a Activision representative, I was told that the reasoning behind doing an XBox 360 and PC BETA was primarily due to increased server and connectivity data.
"We are running the BETA only on the XBox 360 and PC," said the representative. He continued then to point out that most BETAs on the PS3 are run by first party anyways, and if Treyarch runs their testing on the XBox 360 and PC they acquire more data on servers and connectivity.
Personally, I think that it's imperative to sufficiently test all networks a game will be running on, and that includes the PlayStation Network. Yes, if you were to run the BETA solely on the PlayStation 3, you'd acquire less data than a 360 BETA, but why not have a BETA span multiple platforms? Is it that much more work?

273w ago - In the latest issue of Famitsu magazine, Famitsu ran an interview with the developers over at Level-5. In addition to formally announcing the release date of the title as December 25, the interview revealed some other interesting tidbits.
Expectantly so, the game has a huge budget, and is the biggest game the developer has dealt with thus far. Also, White Knight is possibly only one episode in a series of many, and a prequel is already on the drawing board.
Finally, and most interestingly, there is one aspect of White Knight that has yet to be detailed. This unknown feature goes far beyond anything seen in any RPG before it. It's also something that Level-5 claims can only be done on the PS3.
So what is this tightly-kept, secret aspect? It sure has piqued our attention! More on it as the game comes closer to release.
273w ago - To quote Al De Leon (PR Manager, SCEA) via PS Blog:
Hi, everyone, I wanted to give you a heads up about PS3 firmware update (v2.43). Unlike previous updates, firmware v2.43 is specific to the Japan region, and only PS3 users there will be required to install the update. PS3 users in all other regions will not be prompted to download v2.43. However, if you manually initiate a firmware update by clicking on "System Update" under the XMB's Settings icon, the v2.43 update will be available, regardless of where you are located.
Users outside of Japan do not need to perform this update if your PS3 system software is on version v2.41 or later. However if you do perform the update, it will not cause any issues with your system or add any new functionality.
