Atlus Announces There Will Be Only One Version of Persona 4

50°
324w ago - I don't know about anyone else, but I've been holding onto two copies of Persona 3 for quite some time now. The original came in this nice box with an art book, and then FES came out and I just couldn't bring myself to give up to original. So there you go.

Will the same thing happen? Atlus says no.

"We are today able to announce that at no point in the future will we announce the release of a "FES" version of Persona 4," said Tim Pivnicny, Vice President of Sales and Marketing. "The very finest, most definitive version of Persona 4 will be the one released on December 9, 2008."

Now if only we could convince them to quit letting places like amazon release awesome pre-order junk, I will be extremely happy. I want my tele-teddy darn it!

Naruto: Ultimate Ninja Storm Hits Next Week, Only on PS3

100°
326w ago - Per Hiroshi Matsuyama (CyberConnect2) via PS Blog today:

Hello, PlayStation.Blog readers, I'm Hiroshi Matsuyama from CyberConnect2, the developer of NARUTO: Ultimate Ninja STORM. I'm very excited to have this opportunity to speak with you all about the game. Since this is my first post, I'll cover the basics today.

I'm sure some of you that have seen our trailers for the game have thought "I bet this is just a pre-rendered movie" - but it's not! Everything from all of our trailers is 100% real-time footage from the game running on PLAYSTATION 3 hardware that you will all be able to experience when the game is released next week.

Naruto: Ultimate Ninja Storm features two main game modes for players to enjoy - "Free Battle Mode" and "Ultimate Mission Mode." In Free Battle Mode, you can play as one of 25 characters from the animated series. The battles aren't strictly one-on-one either - you can bring two support characters into every battle, who will help you out in short bursts.

This is the same three person team structure as the TV series, but now you can create your own teams with all sorts of original combinations. We've put a lot of effort into our battles to...

PlayStation 3 Firmware 2.51 Released, for Demo Units Only?!

550°
326w ago - Usually PlayStation 3 Demonstration Firmware updates follow the official Retail console updates. Strangely, this time PS3 Firmware 2.51 was released for the Demo unit first.

Download: PS3 DEMO Firmware 2.51 (US) / PS3 DEMO Firmware 2.51 (EU)

This could be a result of conflicts with the Recovery Menu and the Demonstration unit itself perhaps.

BTW the password to unlock PlayStation 3 Firmware 2.5 Demo units is 6258. ;-)

Call Of Duty: World at War BETA to be XBox 360 and PC only

300°
330w ago - Sorry PS3 gamers, but according to Treyarch and the people at Activision, the upcoming online multiplayer BETA for Call of Duty: World at War will be for XBox 360 and PC owners only.

For those of you who remember, Infinity Ward pulled a similar move last year by hosting the Call of Duty 4 BETA only on the XBox 360. After speaking with a Activision representative, I was told that the reasoning behind doing an XBox 360 and PC BETA was primarily due to increased server and connectivity data.

"We are running the BETA only on the XBox 360 and PC," said the representative. He continued then to point out that most BETAs on the PS3 are run by first party anyways, and if Treyarch runs their testing on the XBox 360 and PC they acquire more data on servers and connectivity.

Personally, I think that it's imperative to sufficiently test all networks a game will be running on, and that includes the PlayStation Network. Yes, if you were to run the BETA solely on the PlayStation 3, you'd acquire less data than a 360 BETA, but why not have a BETA span multiple platforms? Is it that much more work?

What do you think about this debacle? Let us know in the comments section below.
