Online Features in ModNation Racers: Road Trip for PS Vita

100°
132w ago - Today Product Development Director Erich Waas has shared details on the online features in ModNation Racers: Road Trip for the PS Vita handheld console.

To quote: I wanted to give Mark Wilson a break this week so that I could talk about the robust online features in ModNation Racers: Road Trip.

The team here in San Diego created an impressive list of online functionality to take advantage of the WiFi/3G and GPS functionality. This game is intended to let you take advantage of your road trips--whether they're across the country, to another state or just traveling between home and work or school.

More importantly, ModNation Racers: Road Trip was designed to work around your schedule and let you compete with your friends whenever (and wherever) you want.

1. Competitive Localized Leaderboards

When a gamer who has opted to "Use Location Data" posts a lap time to the Leaderboards, that time is connected to their current location. Gamers can personalize their location names (i.e., My Home, My Work, Mark's House Where I Always Win, etc.) for easy reference. These times become part of the Local Leaderboards which gamers can use to compete in a fun arcade-style atmosphere.

Gamers can also select one of their saved locations and view other competitors'...

137w ago - Sony Online Entertainment Executive Director of Development Lorin Jameson announced today news of new PS3 characters and holiday items arriving to fans in DC Universe Online.

To quote: Hope you're enjoying the most wonderful time of the year - the holiday gaming season!

One of the chief perks of a massively multiplayer online game is that the developers have a lot of freedom to make changes to the world, including creating special events throughout the year.

In DC Universe Online, we've just begun our new holiday-themed event Season's Greedings, which gives players fun new things to do set in a festive new look. As you make your way around Gotham City and Metropolis, you'll see that both are decked out in celebration of the season. But that's only the beginning!

All players are able to take part in a fun Holiday event starring our newest DCUO character, Larfleeze, the leader of the Orange Lantern Corps. Orange Lanterns? Yes, the Orange Lanterns, much like the Sinestro Corps or the Red Lanterns, are rivals of the Green Lanterns and are powered by the orange light of avarice, aka "greed."

Being a greedy little guy, it makes sense that Larfleeze wants all of the holiday presents for himself. As the player, it's up to you to track down the stolen presents, battle...

200°
138w ago - Sony Online Entertainment Executive Director of Development Lorin Jameson has announced that the new DC Universe Online PS3 DLC Pack Lightning Strikes hits PSN today.

To quote: Today we're celebrating not only the launch of our second DLC Pack, Lightning Strikes, but also the amazing success that we've had since making the Free-to-Play transition just over a month ago.

Bottom line, there are a whole lot more of you out there playing DCUO. And apparently you're having a good time, because most of you - more than 85%, in fact - are returning again and again for adventures in Gotham City and Metropolis.

You may have seen a few weeks ago when we announced that more than one million new players had jumped in to DCUO since the launch of Free-to-Play. That number is definitely larger now, and growing by roughly 6% each day. We love seeing all of the new heroes and villains in game, and hope you and your friends keep coming back to experience the great new adventures we have planned for the coming year.

But enough bragging! You probably want to know what's going on with the new DLC, which hits PlayStation Store tomorrow. Lightning Strikes has something fun for players of all levels. You can amp up with the new Electricity power set, which offers supercharged new ways to heal yourself...

100°
141w ago - D3Publisher Assistant Producer Miki Takahashi has announced today that White Knight Chronicles II: Online Guilds update version 1.01 hits PSN this week.

To quote: We wanted to share first details on the Guild Update (game version 1.01) for White Knight Chronicles II. The update will radically enhance your online play options and provide more than 100 pieces of new downloadable content along with some other new features; read on for an in-depth dissection.

Guild System

One of the most exciting features is the new Guild System. By purchasing the commerce item "Guild License" at the PlayStation Store, you'll be able to create your own Guild – a collective of GeoNet communities built by players that enables them to interact with each other online as they play.

Create a Guild and you will have your own personal Guild page, which will allow you to participate in online Guild rankings, access the Guild's exclusive HomeTown, and more. Once you create your Guild, you can pick your favorite character as a concierge (Guide) by purchasing a Concierge ticket item.

Your concierge is a sort of Guild mascot that helps run day-to-day operations by managing your guild's HomeTown, its guild tokens and GeoStones, and providind information about designated quests.

400°
143w ago - Sony Online Entertainment (SOE) Executive Director of Development Lorin Jameson has shared details today on DC Online Universe, which he states is now free to play your way on PS3!

To quote: Remember back in September when we announced that DC Universe Online was going to be Free-To-Play? Well, it's here!

Starting today you can download DCUO from the PlayStation Store for free, and play all you want with no monthly fee required. Experience the game play features that have gotten players excited about DCUO since it launched, including the intense, fast-action brawler style combat system that makes it feel more like an action game than a massive online game.

Now, you can see for yourself how DCUO offers the best of both worlds. Fight, fly, speed, battle with friends, pummel your enemies, explore the amazing locales of the DC Universe, hobnob with Wonder Woman... all for free!

We're really excited about this transition because you all have been asking us to make this change, and now we've done it - we're making DCUO accessible to so many more players.

We heard all of you out there who told us at conventions, on Facebook and elsewhere that you'd love to jump in to the game, if only it didn't have that pesky monthly fee. Well, now's your chance. With our three...
