225w ago - Today GameSpy has some preliminary details and concept art (courtesy of JeuxFrance.com) available on the upcoming PS3 exclusive title Kurayami by Suda 51, as follows:
Suda 51 harnesses the power of PS3 for a bizarre action/adventure inspired the work of existentialist writer Franz Kafka.
In an unusual town full of odd locals, your stranded characters must explore the town and its castle to find a way out, using only his carried torch to light his way and to fend off the unexpected and unexplainable horrors that await.
Thanks to the power techniques of PlayStation 3, Suda Goichi intends to stress the graphic style (textures, drawings of the characters, decorations, etc.) of Kurayami so that the player can truly sense the darkness, as the concept of the fear will play a very important part in the play.
Additionally, advanced new lighting and graphic techniques are used to impress upon you the feeling of fear and loneliness (the tite "Kurayami" means "Darkness" in Japanese) as you venture through to the end of your quest.
225w ago - Speculation is brewing from an alleged PS3 Box Art picture (below) of Sony's new EyePet game that was sent to DotDosh.com (linked above) anonymously.
According to reports, it's yet another indication that the PS3 Slim announcement is imminent with the new design and omission of the Spider-Man font.
Before, you'd have the Spider-Man font with the PlayStation logo going down the left side of the cover.
With this, it seems to be reverting to the old days of the PS2 sleeve, with just the PS logo and the Playstation Network logo slapped on it at the top.
To quote: "The new box art is much neater/cleaner than the old PS3 box art. The old one had text and information all over the place.
On the left there would be the PlayStation 3 Logo and on the top there would be the new "Only On PlayStation" text, where the PlayStation had a different font than the PS3 font, and the PlayStation Network logo to show there is online play.
When compared to the new one, all the information is on top for you to read.
When will we see the change? Who knows, but let's hope it is announced during GamesCom ton Tuesday August 18th, this week, with the PS3...
226w ago - The LittleBigPlanet GOTY (Game Of The Year) Edition Box Art has recently been uncovered by Kotaku (linked above), and appears to sport a lower price and offer $30 in downloadable content.
According to IGN, online retailer Amazon (dead link now) brought to light a few bits of information on the title which has since been taken down from the site completely.
To quote: While details on what that extra content thrown in for free will be aren't specified in the Amazon.com listing, the lower price and extra goodies really should convince you to pick up a copy of LittleBigPlanet already. I mean, have you seen how cute these Sackboy things are? Seriously. Just precious.
The original report on the LittleBigPlanet re-release indicated that "much" of the downloadable content already available would be bundled with the core game. Whether that includes the dozens of available downloadable costumes or simply some of the game's user-created levels is unclear. The "valued at" makes us wonder.
228w ago - Update: According to Dutch site NextGamer.nl, the Uncharted 2 European release date will be October 16, 2009.
Uncharted 2: Among Thieves is almost here, with Sony confirming to Kotaku (linked above) today that the Naughty Dog developed PlayStation 3 game will arrive in the U.S. on October 13th.
To quote: Sony also released Uncharted 2's final box art, reminding us of Mr. Drake's expert ability to hang from ledges and platforms with just one hand.
Combine that with his expertise at maintaining a shirt that's half-tucked, half-not and you'll see why the stubbly treasure hunter's adventures warranted a sequel.
Oh, and speaking of pre-orders, Sony laid out its retailer plans for a quartet of downloadable exclusives with Amazon.com, GameStop, Game Crazy and BestBuy. Golden guns, right after this.
Yes, those are the golden Barettas that Drake can wield in multiplayer, adding a bit of flash to your online death match and "Plunder" competition. They're exclusive to BestBuy, meaning that if you're into sporting golden AK-47s, that should be your pre-order retailer of choice.
Other retailers are getting downloadable exclusive bonuses too, as follows:
237w ago - Today Ignition Entertainment's Shane Bettenhausen has posted on the PlayStation Blog today news that The King of Fighters XII is due out this summer for the PlayStation 3 console.
To quote: Dedicated KOF fans have been patiently waiting for years to get their hands on a new installment in this legendary franchise. Since its inception 15 years ago, The King of Fighters has served as a ferocious franchise mash-up, gathering characters from classic series such as Fatal Fury, Art of Fighting, and Ikari Warriors for three-on-three street fighting action.
For years, fans could depend on KOF to deliver a new yearly update sporting a few minor tweaks and new playable characters, but the advent of the HD era demanded a fresh start. KOF XII is precisely that–a total reboot and rebirth that embraces the past while looking towards the future.
The developers at SNK PLAYMORE have worked hard to deliver a next-gen King of Fighters sequel that honors the series' tradition of hand-drawn 2D art and animation while upping the ante with gameplay refinements and fierce online play.
Creating the massive amount of hand-drawn art required to fluidly animate HD-quality character sprites required a small army of artists sketching their hearts out–SNK...
