44w ago - Sony Social Media Manager Sid Shuman has gone hands-on today with The Last of Us for PlayStation 3.
To quote: I've finally played a chapter from Naughty Dog's eagerly awaited post-pandemic survival tale, and the first thing I want to say is this: The Last of Us is not a shooter. Well, not exactly.
Though Joel packs a pistol, you'll count yourself lucky to be holding more than 10 bullets at any one time. Most times you'll want to avoid fights by sneaking and hiding. In other, more desperate times you'll pull the trigger with a feeling of great reluctance - all the while praying that you don't miss.
The ultra-tight ammo supply imbues the game with a primal, high-stakes tension that brings uncertainty to every decision you make. One thing's for sure: this is one mess you won't be able to shoot your way out of.
"The Last of Us is not a shooter."
As I guided Joel's group around the dilapidated fringes of post-pandemic Boston, I saw constant reminders of Naughty Dog's legendary attention to detail.
Step under a trickle of water and Joel will raise his hand to keep his head dry; knock an enemy near a wall and Joel will pin him there to deliver a staggering punch. The environments also bristle with detail.
46w ago - Naughty Dog Community Strategist Eric Monacelli has announced today that The Last of Us demo is coming first to God of War: Ascension owners.
Below are the details, to quote: In just a few short months, The Last of Us will launch and put the fate of Joel and Ellie into your hands, as they embark on a brutal journey across a post-pandemic United States.
May 7th, 2013 might seem like a long way away, so to help assuage the excruciating wait we're announcing today that players who pick up God of War: Ascension will be able to get their hands on a demo of The Last of Us when it becomes available at a later date.
We teamed up with the development crew at Santa Monica Studio to include access to a chapter of The Last of Us in every copy of God of War: Ascension, so you won't have to wait too long to get your hands on two of the biggest games of the year.
Just load the God of War: Ascension disc into your PS3 and find The Last of Us listing on the main menu. There, you'll find details on how you can obtain The Last of Us demo for free as soon as it becomes available.
When you get the Survival Edition, you'll be able to explore over 170 pages of the incredible artwork and designs that went into making The Last of Us in The Art of The Last of Us, a full-sized hardcover art book by Dark Horse.
Also packed in from Dark Horse, artist Faith Erin Hicks, and The Last of Us Creative Director Neil Druckmann is The Last of Us: American Dreams #1, the first issue in a series of comic books that dives deeper into Ellie's backstory. The version you'll get features a variant cover that can only be found...
46w ago - Managing Director and Co-Founder at Green Hill Maarten de Koning has confirmed today alongside a video that Gun Commando will be blasting onto PlayStation Mobile this Wednesday.
Below are the details, to quote: Do you like old school first person shooters? Do you own a PlayStation Vita or a certified PlayStation Mobile device?
If the answer to both questions is yes, then we at Green Hill have some great news for you! We're very proud to announce the release of Gun Commando, an "old-school, new-cool" first person shooter, developed in collaboration with Abstraction Games & Ripstone Publishing, and coming to your PlayStation Mobile device this week!
Gun Commando is a distinctly classic first person shooter that combines 8-bit graphics with visceral game-play, in the vein of Wolvenstein and Duke Nukem.
You play Jack Bennett, a weapon-loving alien-hating gun-for-hire; who is called in to save the world from invading aliens. Alongside the story - sublimely visualized by comic book legend Romano Molenaar - and the great retro look, it features a unique weaponry upgrade system that rewards players' skill and accuracy, allowing you to upgrade to the big guns faster if you've got what it takes.
