Penny Arcade Adventures Hitting PS3 Network

50°
299w ago - Hothead Games today announced that its successful humor-filled XBLA title Penny Arcade Adventures: On the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness will hit the PlayStation Network later this fall as a digital download.

"We keep getting emails asking why our Penny Arcade game is not on PSN," said Hothead's CEO, Vlad Ceraldi.

"We have always said we wanted to have our games on as many platforms as possible to give choice to gamers. All good things take time and we are very excited to be debuting our first PS3 title and look forward to bringing more games to this platform in the future."

No specific word on pricing, but Hothead says the PS3 port will be "priced in line" with the game on other platforms. Considering the XBLA edition cost 1600 Microsoft Points, expect to shell out around $20.

Rumor: Downloadable PS2 Games Hitting PSN This Summer?

100°
303w ago - This is clearly an unsubstantiated rumor, so take it with a fine grain of salt. According to poster NiTiZ on the N4G Forum (linked above), who claims to have a friend in the know at Sony London, downloadable PS2 titles are coming to the PlayStation 3 this summer.

Normally, we'd brush off rumors like this one, but this same poster also provided an off-screen capture of the PS2 download store in action, as shown below. Needless to say, it looks very legit.

Apparently, Sony will formally announce the store during this year's E3, with a launch following in summer. Plus, this isn't the first time we've caught wind of rumblings regarding downloadable PS2 games.

This rumor may be unsubstantiated, but it's far from unlikely.

Sony: PSP Firmware 4.00 Update Hitting Soon

50°
305w ago - PlayStation Network director Eric Lempel has announced that firmware 4.00 for the PSP will be released "soon."

The main highlight of the update, according to Lempel, will be the addition of an in-XMB internet search powered by Google. The search function can retain a history of up to 20 searches.

Additionally, the update will allow users to change the viewing speed of movies played from your Memory Stick Pro Duo. Essentially, you'll be able to slow down or fast forward playback by hitting up or down on the PSP's d-pad while playing a video.

Not a bad update by any means, but we can't help but feel slightly disappointed with the lack of any new major functionality. Where's the built-in PS Store for PSP, Sony? :P
