Sony Announces Soul Sacrifice Free for PlayStation Plus Members

100°
35w ago - Sony Senior Community Specialist Kristine Steimer announced today that Soul Sacrifice is free for PlayStation Plus members.

To quote: One of the most critically acclaimed PS Vita titles, Soul Sacrifice, is now available in the Instant Game Collection.

Created by Keiji Inafune, best known for his work on the Mega Man franchise, this action RPG pits you against an evil sorcerer. The question is, how are you going to defeat him when you're locked up in a fleshy cage? A talking book named Librom (it reminds me of the spell book in Hocus Pocus) is the answer.

Librom will transport you back to past events, also known as Phantom Quests, so you can train and develop your power. The game really shines with its "save or sacrifice" combat mechanics, where you'll need to make key decisions about what you need most (i.e. more health or more magic), or choose to unleash a devastating black rite spell by destroying part of your body.

The best way to grasp the game is to try it out, so get to downloading when this becomes free for PS Plus members tomorrow!

You can take advantage of all these PS Plus benefits after the PlayStation Store updates tomorrow, 11/26.

PS Plus: Binary Domain and Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath Free

200°
36w ago - Sony Senior Community Specialist Kristine Steimer is here with this weeks PlayStation Plus updates today, which include Binary Domain and Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath free for members.

To quote: Chances are, if you picked up a PlayStation 4 last week you're still enjoying our PS4 PlayStation Plus titles, RESOGUN and Contrast, and that's totally cool. However, if you're anxiously waiting for your PS4 to arrive later this holiday season, we've got you covered with a new PlayStation 3 and PS Vita game this week.

Binary Domain, a futuristic third-person squad-based shooter, is hitting the PS3 Instant Game Collection tomorrow. Morality meets gunfire, Binary Domain's Consequences System means you'll need to be aware of your actions - how your squad views you can impact the game as well as how the storyline progresses.

On PS Vita there's Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath, an action-adventure where you step into the role of Stranger, a bounty hunter. Whether or not you head into your bounties guns blazing or prefer a more stealthy approach is up to you, as well as whether you apprehend your subjects alive or dead.

Your main goal is to earn as much money as possible, so it's kind of like real life.

You can take advantage of all these PS Plus benefits after the PlayStation Store...

Contrast is Out Today on PS4, Free for PlayStation Plus Members

50°
37w ago - Compulsion Games Producer Derek Elliott announced that Contrast is out today on PS4, and is free for PlayStation Plus Members.

To quote: Contrast, our PS4 launch title, is out today. If you were born in the '70s (as I was), or have watched "Arrested Development," you'll know the song "The Final Countdown." It is cornily (Is that a word?) appropriate when your game is close to launch status.

It can pump you up and can also bring you back to all the good and bad that was the '80s. Much simpler times when two programmers would make all of the design, art, animation, sound, and code for a game. And back then, game design counted for something. Be damned you kids these days and your fancy save games and discs you don't have to blow on to play.

Games like Paperboy, Dig Dug, and - one of my personal favorites - Racing Destruction Set were profoundly fun because they were simple. But simple didn't mean easy. These games somehow got made because of a genuine fire to develop something new and have fun in a brand new industry.

The early Godfathers of video games were passionate because they accomplished something special, were published, and people responded to their creations.

Just as I suspect...
