400°
206w ago - A few weeks back LittleBigPlanet 2 for PS3 was unofficially revealed, and today Crisis of NeoGAF (linked above) has shared details of it from the June 2010 issue of GameInformer Magazine as well as a scan (below) courtesy of PlayStationInformer from the latest EDGE Magazine.

LittleBigPlanet 2 is a game creation title, like its precedessor, but this time allowing people to go farther than platformers and this time create role-playing games, first-person shooters, racers, and any other genre, as well.

You'll be able to customize the game HUD as well as nearly every other feature of your creation when it releases later this year.

To quote: "LittleBigPlanet 2 Information

• LBP 2 has less of a focus on platforming altogether and it's more of a platform to actually create games with.
• There is an all-new level creator and it is not just a tool to create platform games.
• As examples, the game 100% encourages the player to create game types and wants you to make...

Rumor: Sony's Director of Information Security at SOE is a Pirate?

650°
215w ago - SONY is always whining about piracy and how evil pirates are. But are they better themselves? Not really!

While I browsed the web lately, I read a bit about Bryan S. Blank, the Director of Information Security at SONY Online Entertainment.

Getting a bit more interested I found his private homepage (asdfg.org).

XeXMenu v1.0 (Formerly Xexloader) Now with FTP Support

550°
221w ago - This weekend Team XeDEV released their new homebrew XBox 360 dashboard dubbed XeXMenu v1.0 (formerly Xexloader) with FTP support and more.

Download: XeXMenu v1.0 / XeXMenu v1.0 [Mirror]

To quote: You might be wondering why it's XeDEV who are releasing this.. Since some people left the team, they don't want to retain the "freexex" name anymore. Also changed the name to XeXMenu (this is because XeXLoader is now much more of a menu than just a loader). So enjoy the new stuff :

What's news/fixed:

- Gametitle extraction from NXEART if possible (toggle)
- Games with more than just one XEX will show up multiple times
* Embedded FTP Server to transfer your stuff directly from your computer
- Use xbox:xbox@ip:21
* Use FTP to read/write/delete your onboard flash
- Only user flash/flash is able to do that!
* Support for all found XEX files. Not just default.xex (toggle)
* Shows the content of any GAMES folder on any device
- Use GAMES, APPLICATIONS, EMULATORS for auto discovery menu on each device
* Switch between games/apps/emus in the discovery menu using RB/LB
* Auto scale skins for most...

Video: N64Mini - Play the Nintendo 64 in Portable Form

100°
227w ago - I was looking on ebay for a DS and noticed at the bottom of a listing "most watched" and came across this gem. I then googled it and found a video (below) and write up on this device.

To quote: The modding community has been quite active improving old game consoles. I'm such a fan of the Nintendo 64 that the latest mod of the venerable console was just too cool to pass up.

Dubbed the N64Mini, the portable Nintendo 64 device from modder Zenloc features the familiar Nintendo 64 controller buttons (minus the D-pad, unfortunately) in a nicely compact package. Users can place their Nintendo 64 cartridges in the back of the device to play some of their favorite games.

According to the device's developer, the N64Mini runs on a 4-cell battery and comes with a charger. It also features a headphone jack and an A/V out port for those who want to play the title on a display that's a little larger. It even comes with built-in brightness controls.

But here's the best part: the N64Mini is available now on eBay. Bidding ends in five days, but so far, 44 bids have been placed. The price is at $555 at the time of this writing. I obviously haven't...

Microsoft Performs Mass Bans on Modified XBox 360 Consoles

700°
233w ago - Update: Microsoft's MajorNelson has now officially confirmed the bans.

This Halloween it appears Microsoft has pulled a TRICK with no TREAT on modified XBox 360 console owners... specifically, mass bans have been initiated against them.

IGN (linked above) have confirmed this news, to quote: "We have taken action against a small percentage of consoles that have been modified to play pirated game discs," a Microsoft spokesperson told IGN.

"In line with our commitment to combat piracy and support safer and more secure gameplay for the more than 20 million members of our Xbox LIVE community, we are suspending these modded consoles from Xbox LIVE."

Though Microsoft wouldn't confirm specifically when these bannings took place, a quick look over on its official forums suggest it's been going on over the course of this past week.

Plenty of users have created threads on the technical feedback forum reporting of having their Xbox 360 console banned.
