251w ago - Social Media Manager Jeff Rubenstein shared the following news today via PS Blog:
Earlier this week, over 50 media outlets from North America and Europe saw God of War III, the "epic finale" to Kratos' tale of revenge, played before their very eyes for the first time.
The game's director, Stig Asmussen, led off the session by sharing some key features of the game: Titan gameplay, Ride-able enemy characters, a new weapon system, large-scale battle. All of these were demonstrated in this extended trailer, which was shown next:
To further drive home that this trailer was produced in the game's engine, the audience was treated to nearly 20 minutes of gameplay (which you'll be reading about all over the internet today, no doubt). After the gameplay demonstration, Stig took questions from the press. Here they are (paraphrased - I can only type so fast!):
Gamespot: How will you catch people up to the story?
Stig: One of the criteria of the game is to "bridge the series." Some recent games were confusing if you missed certain chapters in the story. I don't want that to happen with God of War III.
252w ago - Today Nate Fox of Sucker Punch Production covered a press event that took place last weekend in NYC, letting a huge slew of folks get their hands on inFamous. To quote:
On top of the three missions we showcased in the Neon District, players will finally have a chance to see some of the dark, broken down streets of the Warren neighborhood. It's a dangerous place ruled by the Dustmen gang. This squad of one-time homeless men now rule through the use of strong telekinetic powers.
Clothed in bits of trash, they're nearly invisible when hiding in the tangled alleys of the Warren. Strong in fight, their ranks are backed by huge superpowered comrades. Men outfitted in giant suits of torn metal and concrete, they crush police beneath their feet.
This past weekend players had a chance to fight these goliaths while defending the Empire City jail from the Dustmen siege. Walls will be smashed in, guard towers toppled and many thugs will get a lightening bolt to the face.
To help our hero Cole protect the jail, we've rolled out one of his new powers called Precision. Precision allows Cole to slow down time and zoom in on enemies. Perfect for hitting unsuspecting enemies at a distance.
269w ago - Per Jeff Rubenstein (Social Media Manager) via PS Blog:
Just a few minutes ago, one of the most anticipated games of Tokyo Game Show was formally unveiled to the media: White Knight Chronicles (called Shirokishi here in Japan). I sat in on the session and, um, chronicled it for you here:
Kentaro Motomura, Producer of White Knight Chronicles, first runs down some key points - Level-5 created this RPG especially for the PLAYSTATION 3, with a key differentiating element of a transforming hero. They're trying to do something new with this mechanic. You can play solo, or in a group of up to 4 online (more on that later).
Motomura-san gives a quick rundown of the story and then plays a trailer detailing these scenes: During the princess of Balandor's coming of age ceremony, a group known as the "Wizard" raids the kingdom looking for the power of "Knight."
A young man named Leonard escapes into a cellar and finds a mysterious set of armor, which transforms him into the White Knight, and he defeates the Wizard's enormous monster. However, the princess was kidnapped during the battle. Leonard sets off with his newfound power to find the kidnapped princess.
The trailer also reveals a number of other characters, huge beastly monsters, even larger...
