124w ago - Today Sony Senior Social Media Specialist Sid Shuman went hands-on with LittleBigPlanet 2's PlayStation Move PS3 Pack, with all the details below as follows:
Formally announced at PlayStation's E3 2011 press conference, the upcoming PlayStation Move Pack for LittleBigPlanet 2 will greatly expand the game's already prodigious creation suite and add countless new gameplay variants.
Based on my hands-on time, PlayStation Move support radically evolves the gameplay possibilities of LittleBigPlanet 2, whether it's flinging and manipulating objects using the new Brain Crane power-up, creating outlandish Move-focused minigames from scratch, or animating characters and props by recording your PlayStation Move gestures.
"It's the biggest update we've ever done," Media Molecule's Level Design Lead Kengo Kurimoto told me during a guided tour of the update last week in New York City.
When the Move Pack hits PSN this September, LBP2 owners will find six new Story levels in a Move-focused mini-campaign that picks up where LBP2 left off. One of the most significant gameplay enhancements comes as a potent new power-up called the Brain Crane.
Like a telepathic revamp of the Power Gloves, the Brain Crane enables Sackboy to pick up and manipulate objects with nothing but...
127w ago - On this July 4th holiday SCEA PR Manager Eric Levine has announced some new LittleBigPlanet 2 Packs incoming, including inFAMOUS 2, Toy Story, and FINAL FANTASY VII!
To quote: Over the next two months we've got some pretty darned cool LittleBigPlanet 2 DLC packs heading your way.
I'm sure you've noticed the title of this post, so let's not delay any further - from the depths of Midgar, I'm delighted to unveil...the FINAL FANTASY VII costume pack!
Coming to the PlayStation Store on July 13th, these costumes will let you re-live the struggle of Cloud, Aeris, and the rest of AVALANCHE against Shinra, from one of the most iconic and critically acclaimed video games of all time.
Exciting stuff - but that's not all. I'm sure lots of you have been enjoying the continuing adventures of Cole McGrath in inFAMOUS 2. Those adventures can now continue even further thanks to the inFAMOUS 2 mini-pack.
Released this week for $2.99, it contains costumes for Good Cole and Bad Cole, as well as a whole host of new stickers. Being a hero is optional in inFAMOUS 2, so this will give you a chance to show your true colors!
On July 20th, the Killzone 3 mini-pack will be released containing Rico...
128w ago - Vanguard Games Game Designer Nikki Kuppens has announced that Gatling Gears is now available on PlayStation Network and shared a video trailer for the PSN title.
To quote: I'm here to introduce our newest game, Gatling Gears, which is available on PSN right now! Gatling Gears is an intense twin-stick shooter in which you control a heavily armed mech.
We call them "walkers" and they're a very iconic part of Mistbound, the world you will travel through in Gatling Gears. As veteran walker pilot Max Brawley, you're going to have to put an end to the Empire's destructive campaign for Mistbound's valuable resources.
To do that, you will have to master the two basic principles of walker operation: shooting and dodging. You'll be flooded with waves and waves of enemies, so using your weapons effectively is key to your survival.
The Gatling gun is useful against weaker enemies, but has a limited range. A cannon shell does more damage, but is harder to aim. Grenades can be carefully targeted and do a lot of damage, but will take a while to reach their target. If things get out of hand (and they will!) detonating your Spark Bomb will send an electrified shock wave across the entire screen.
130w ago - Sony's Social Media Manager Jeff Rubenstein is here with some LBP gameplay footage of LittleBigPlanet for PS Vita from E3 2011.
To quote: The key things to remember about LittleBigPlanet for PS Vita:
• It's not a port: this LBP features an all new campaign and Vita-specific features
• Your previously purchased LittleBigOutfits will transfer seamlessly into LBP for Vita
• Sackboy looks 72% cuter on the OLED screen
Producer Pete Smith from SCEE Liverpool has been working on the LittleBigPlanet series since the original, and is therefore well qualified to show off what's new for LBP Vita.
Perhaps the most interesting aspect of this LBP is that the Create tools are kind of like a Vita dev kit. You can access the touch screens, accelerometers and more to make a levels that take full advantage of the handheld, and are unlike any previously created in the LBP universe.
153w ago - Recently BludgaBoy has shared a LittleBigPlanet 2 PS3 BETA - Windows: LBP Edition Creation video showcasing the work of Boss_Mob, SaggySackBoy, tomatenbrei and daFRED94.
While the game isn't available until later this month, those interested can check it out below.
To quote from Kotaku: "This Windows XP homage, built in the LittleBigPlanet 2 beta, won't run a copy of Excel or PowerPoint, but it does do a reasonably good impersonation of the operating system's desktop, start menu, built-in timewaster games and, naturally, a blue screen of death."
Finally, from the video's caption: "It works... well, *almost* perfectly (just like the real Windows, there are some kinks in the works), and it's an extremely accurate re-creation, right down to the log in noise. You've got pictures, music, videos; even some built in games for you to play! Who needs the NT kernel or C++ when you've got LittleBigPlanet 2?"
