Video: PlayStation 3 Uncharted Home Space Unveiled

313w ago - Below is a video courtesy of goodfellajay662 via YouTube. It details PlayStation 3 Home's Uncharted Space, and one commentor adds:

"Those keypads lead to other rooms, the downstairs room won't open yet. If you stand in the bar at the right spots you can hear tapping. It's morris code telling you the keypad passes.

If you had gone on the us forums you can get the codes. By the way, these spaces are called game spaces. Game themed rooms = game spaces. Get it? lol"

Video is below, enjoy!

PlayStation 3 Recovery Menu added in Firmware 2.50 - Why?

313w ago - 1ra2 of PS3Gen (linked above) has discovered something quite interesting with the new PS3 Firmware 2.50. In the new firmware, a "hidden" Restore Menu has been added.

To access it, while the PS3 is in standby, hold the power button like you are doing a reset, but keep holding it down until there are two beeps, and you then can access it.

Now, don't get me wrong, I'm always a fan of any hidden menu, be it in a TV, a PS3, or even a washing machine. However this is more for the technically inept. A video of it is below:

Lets go over the options available. For those who can not read French, from top to bottom:

1. Restart System
2. Restore Default Settings
3. Restore File System
4. Rebuild Database
5. Restore PS3 System
6. System Update

Restart System and System update are quite self explanatory, you can restart the system or upgrade the PS3's firmware. No, downgrading does not work. The Rest of the functions are a tad more interesting, but not too much.

The majority of the functions can be accessed in the XMB, like Restart System, Restore Default System, Restore PS3 System and System Update. But, those few that are not in the XMB are not anything special.

Resistance 2 BETA Now Available on PlayStation Network!

314w ago - Update: Greg Phillips (Producer, SCEA) has now confirmed via PS Blog that the Resistance 2 public BETA officially begins today!

To quote: "Today, October 16th, the public BETA for Resistance 2 will begin in North America. The BETA will include competitive maps from three locations in the game. Speaking of beta.myresistance.net, the beta version of our new community site goes live tonight as well. And, finally, Resistance 2 has gone gold."

Earlier today Feranthur reported the following: Well I got my code from PS that I entered and it says it is invalid... and a mod said that the code will work when the beta goes live... so when I saw that beta.myresistance.com was down for "login" I checked my code and... IT WORKED!!!!

BUT... When I click in download it gives me a error code... so I have to wait until the BETA is completely uploaded to download? ... that means the BETA will begin TOMORROW!!

Edit: Now my download is going fine.. I have 840MB downloaded.

PS: I'm from Brazil that means that my PS3 menu is in Portuguese... don't get confused.

PlayStation Network Temporary Unscheduled Maintenance

314w ago - Update: The PSN is now back online.

According to Patrick Seybold, the Director of Corporate Communications & Social Media at PS Blog today:

As some of you may have noticed, we've temporarily taken down some functions of PlayStation Network - specifically access to the PlayStation Store, account management and registration.

Online gameplay will remain uninterrupted.

We thank you for your patience and will report back here as soon as the Store and registration functions are back online.

So at least it's confirmed, eh? Still meh though!
