Mortal Kombat 2 Pulled from PlayStation Store

50°
314w ago - Update: Apparently, the European PSN store still has the title on its list. However, the American store doesn't even show it on the download history.

It looks like Mortal Kombat fanatics won't be getting their kicks from the franchise's early releases for a while as Midway Games' Mortal Kombat 2 has been pulled from the PlayStation Store.

What's even worse is that the game's been removed so completely that it doesn't even show up on users' recently downloaded lists, so reinstalling it is no longer an option.

There is a bit of good news, though. According to a Sony PR guy, the removal was due to an issue that occurred after the firmware 2.50 update.

The Sony rep also said that the game will be back on the store as soon as it's fixed.

Sony PlayStation 3 Firmware 2.50: Black And White Video Problem

200°
314w ago - The latest Sony PS3 Firmware 2.50 update added many great features to all of our Playstation 3's, but we are also getting many reports of problems as well. The main problem with the latest update seems to be related to the DivX VOD addition.

Some users have video displaying in black and white, although it worked fine before updating. You can read some of the problems users have reported below, feel free to share a comment once reading.

If you have video on your HD don't get if you have an SD TV unless you like black and white, I found out the hard way.

I downloaded 2.50 yesterday, I also have same problem with my videos showing only in black and white plus small difference in sound. I really hope that Sony fixes this bug fast, because this is not what I paid for. Also I'm very disappointed over the freezing of GTA IV still not fixed.

It's completely stopped my current DivX movies from working correctly! (Black and white, funny lines at the top of my screen) I didn't pay R6000 for this. What gives?

About 100gb of films I have are now black and white... not Alfred...

Does the PlayStation Network Offer Good Game Choice?

100°
314w ago - I have been playing on the PlayStation Network (PSN) and downloading games there for a year now. The question I am asking myself: is it enough?

In all honesty, no! I will admit that I have love for many of the games that I have downloaded, but where is the depth of games that Xbox Live Arcade has to offer. A few games that I am missing are Luxor 2, Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3, and Pac-Man: Championship Edition.

I have loved the Luxor games since I fist played them and find it delightfully addictive. I picked it up along with Pac-Man CE on the Xbox Live Arcade Compilation disc. I simply do not understand why the PSN does not offer at least one of these great games. Further, where is UMK3? Sure many purists swear by MK2, but I have love for the run button and would love to try my skills against players worldwide.

I am not going to say that the PSN lacks great titles, but I expect more. I find myself playing PAIN and it's expansions more than most of my disc-based games. However, it gets old faster than I like to admit. PAIN is also amazing in that my 8-year-old son and I can get lost in it for hours on end.

I am glad to have Super Puzzle Fighter HD and Rampart to lose myself in. They are great classics that I have already spent quality time with them. If you ever get a chance to play...

That being said, on October 10th a Japanese developer named Mario (site linked above) apparently released a BD-J GameBoy Emulator for the PS3.

Download: PS3 BD-J GameBoy Emulator

For those who haven't updated to PS3 Firmware 2.50 yet, here are the translated details courtesy of PSPImages.net:

The emulator has been programmed in BD-J code, a form of JAVA, which is normally used for advanced Blu-ray menus. The emulator is a bit slow and there is not much sound but it's easy and works very well.

Instructions:

1. Download the emulator
2. Place the AVCHD on an USB drive (use FAT32)
3. Place the drive in the USB port of the PS3
4. Select the drive and start the AVCHD folder from VIDEO
5. Choose a game

You can use the triangle button to select the numbers...

PlayStation Portable 1.50 Kernel Add-On for 5.00 M33 CFW out!

50°
314w ago - Today Dark_AleX has released a PlayStation Portable 1.50 kernel add-on for 5.00 (phat) consoles with M33 Custom Firmware.

Download: PSP 1.50 Kernel Add-On for 5.00 M33 CFW / PSP 1.50 Kernel Add-On for 5.00 M33 CFW [Mirror]

Instructions: Copy to /PSP/GAME5XX and run.

Note: because even deleting LFTV and korean font there was not enough space this time, this version will delete also flash0:/dic/apotp.dic

I'm unsure about what this file is for (maybe for Japanese text predicition?) but system works fine with it.

IF you want to keep some of the things deleted by the 150k_installer do following things.

- Install DC7. Use the Format flash options in nand operations menu. Make flash1 size like around 1 MB smaller, make flash3 the smallest possible, and make flash2 a bit smaller (not too much, or you won't be able to download games and demos from psstore). Then, make flash0 as big as possible and continue.

- Install 4.01 M33, update to 5.00 M33.

- Install 1.50 addon. Dump 5.00 using the latest psardumper, and flash the deleted files you want back.
