Video: Crysis Assaults PSN Today with 3D Support, Launch Trailer

400°
146w ago - Crytek UK Senior Designer Alex Hood has shared some new PS3 video trailer footage below of Crysis, which assaults PSN today with 3D support!

To quote: It is very exciting for me to be able to say that the original Crysis is coming to the PS3! Some of you may be wondering how we are going to bring the large open environments that Crysis is known for to console.

The expansive jungle sections, the pure white sand beaches, the open vehicle levels... maybe you're shaking your head that it cannot be done. I'm here to tell you that we've accomplished this and you will be able to experience the remastered, single-player campaign for Crysis on October 4th in North America and October 5th in Europe.

So how did we do it? As Egg Shen said, it wasn't easy! Without the power of the CryENGINE 3, we would never have attempted it, but with fully deferred lighting, a PS3-specific rendering pipeline and SPU-enhanced physics code, together with more efficient memory layouts and more intelligent algorithms, we brought the experience of Crysis to consoles without compromise.

With that said, we didn't just want to port the game straight onto console; we wanted to make sure we tailored the experience to suit it. We've brought the Crysis 2 Nanosuit...

Dark Souls Hits PlayStation 3 Today, Meet Its Darkest Demons

50°
146w ago - Sony Senior Social Media Specialist Sid Shuman has revealed some of the darkest demons in Dark Souls, which will officially be hitting the PlayStation 3 entertainment system today!

To quote: "All the monsters I design, from Demon's Souls to Dark Souls, are beautiful to me no matter how gruesome their appearance."

Dark Souls Director Hidetaka Miyazaki shared this bit of insight with me earlier this year in an interview and the quote has bounced through my brain for more than six months.

Since then, I've been wanting to get a closer look at the game's stunning creature designs, all of which are plucked from the further reaches of Miyazaki's fevered imagination.

Luckily, today's the day. For the viewing pleasure of readers, From Software and Namco Bandai have collected a host of rare concept artwork accompanied by design notes from Miyazaki himself. Miyazaki also wanted to pass along a greeting just for readers:

"I am hoping all of you experience meaningful deaths many times in the game. I know that the game is challenging, but I want you to keep trying to overcome any difficulty you face in the game. And please feel a great sense of achievement when overcoming a difficulty!"

Read on for the full gallery. If you do pick up Dark Souls, keep...

Video: Recoil Games Announces Rochard Hits PS3 on PSN Today

100°
147w ago - Recoil Games Lead Designer Juhana "Hulu" Virtanen has announced today alongside a video trailer that Rochard is hitting PS3 on PSN today.

To quote: Ever run into a person annoying enough to make you want to launch a two-ton cargo container in their face? Well, it turns out the future is crawling with these guys.

And plenty of containers to boot! If you happen to be an astro miner, this means you have a good reason to rev up your trusty G-Lifter for some serious action, now that Rochard appears today on PSN!

So what is a lone astro miner to do against an invading force of Wild Boy thugs? Well, the two-ton cargo containers are just a start. The intruders find themselves on a mined out asteroid, aka home turf, filled with giant machines built to crush, cut and smash things.

And then there's your G-Lifter, which is able to casually grab objects the size of a small car and hurl them across the room. Nifty little upgrades also allow it to fire off deadly lasers and a variety of highly explosive grenade rounds. Add all this to your ability to thrash around gravity with the press of a button, and you can look forward to putting these Wild Boys in a whole new extra-terrestrial world of hurt!

While these and many other...

Video: Might And Magic: Clash of Heroes PS3 DLC Launches Today

250°
148w ago - SCEE's Dan Vader has posted up a video trailer announcing that Might And Magic: Clash of Heroes PS3 DLC launches on PSN today.

To quote: The new 'I Am the Boss' update for Might and Magic Clash of Heroes gives players the chance to square off against all 4 evil bosses from the single player campaigns in Quick Battle or Online Multiplayer modes.

This is your chance to get another taste of vengeance as you take to the battlefield against Azexes, Count Carlyle, Lordess Ludmilla, and overlord Azh Rafir. But these villains aren't going to lie down and let your attacks march all over them.

Each boss has been balanced for Multiplayer action and equipped with their own brand new and uniquely devastating Hero Spells. Watch out for Azexes' Demon Portal spell, which summons attacks from the depths of Sheogh; your skin will crawl when Lordess Ludmilla calls upon her Spider Swarm to overwhelm you; try to hold onto your lunch when Count Carlyle belches up his Bile Blast straight at you; and you better build some strong walls to defend against Azh Rafir's deadly Palm Blast spell.

It may not be technically legal to unleash hellhounds on your boss at the office, or fire off a Pixie Blast at that manager whose...

Burnout Crash Explodes on PS3 via PlayStation Network Today

200°
148w ago - Criterion Games Producer Dan McDonald has announced that Burnout Crash is exploding on PS3 via PlayStation Network today!

To quote: Burnout CRASH! is a spin-off from our much-loved Burnout series, but this time focusing solely on the Crash Mode gameplay which you may remember from previous Burnout games.

A lot of games take themselves too seriously, sometimes all you really need is to just kick back, relax, and blow stuff up. With that in mind, we designed Burnout CRASH! with a tongue-in-cheek style, harking back to the arcades we all used to hang around in.

Our inspirations were manic pinball gameplay, over-the-top game show-style presentation, all tied up with our favorite music tracks from yesterday.

But I hear you ask, "I loved the original Crash modes, will I like this?" But of course! We have kept the spirit of the original Crash mode alive, with its simple gameplay of drive into a junction and smash as much traffic as you can - layered with deeper puzzle elements to work out the highest scoring strategies. The perfect game to sit on the sofa passing the controller back and forth with your friends, showing action that is as fun to watch as it is to play.

Looking back at previous versions of Crash mode, the single biggest request from our fans was to keep...
