131w ago - SCEE's James Gallagher has shared an interview today with Randy Pitchford of Gearbox Software on the upcoming PS3 version of Duke Nukem Forever.
To quote: "It's like shaking hands with Bigfoot or riding the Loch Ness monster," said Gearbox Software CEO Randy Pitchford when talking about finally releasing Duke Nukem Forever.
Look up the term 'vaporware' and Duke Nukem Forever will likely be used as an example, but it's real and it's coming to U.S. PS3s in less than two weeks. I caught up with Randy to ask why you should always bet on Duke.
Duke is an all-American hero with the Stars and Stripes featuring heavily in the game's art style, but characters like that haven't always been so popular internationally. Why is Duke an exception?
It's because Duke is a caricature of all that - it's silly! Duke Nukem takes place 12 years after Duke saved the world and he has leveraged that to live like a king. He's walked on the moon, climbed Everest... he's done it all.
The only thing bothering him is that they were supposed to make a video game about him saving the world and it has taken 12 years for them to finish it. I think it's that angle that makes it work internationally because we parody...
131w ago - Today Killzone 3 PS3 patch version 1.09 has been released, and although the changelog (below) contains many fixes the update's EBOOT.BIN game executable is also encrypted with 3.60 Firmware PS3 Keys meaning those who update won't be able to run it on PlayStation 3 Custom Firmware.
If you are running PS3 CFW and remain on the Killzone (BCES-01007) 1.08 patch or below you will still be able to play the game fine though.
Below is the Killzone 3 PS3 Patch 1.09 changelog from Guerrilla Games PlayStation 3 Developer LevTrin12, to quote:

131w ago - Today VP Eric Lempel of Sony Network Entertainment has announced that PlayStation Network will be undergoing some important maintenance in order to get PSN fully operational again.
To quote: Starting soon, the PlayStation Network will be inaccessible for several hours for maintenance. The server maintenance performed at this time represents a crucial step in the full restoration for PSN, including the PlayStation Store.
During this maintenance period, users will be unable to sign in to PSN, though those that are already logged in should be able to remain online.
Resumption of full PlayStation Network service is still on track for this week in most regions.
Thank you once again for your patience as we work to return PSN to the highest level of service.
131w ago - SCEA Senior Producer Harvard Bonin has posted up a Starhawk PS3 Multiplayer video today for fans spotlighting CTF (Capture The Flag) in the Acid Sea.
To quote: Lots of you are wondering how Build & Battle fits in with the Warhawk recipe of "frenetic epic firefights," so today we wanted to give you a taste of what we will have playable at E3 next week!
This is a video of an actual multiplayer tournament we had recently at the LightBox studio.
As you know Starhawk also has a cool single-player campaign that will immerse you in the story of our main character, Emmett Graves, but as you can see we have not forgotten about our multiplayer roots!
We've designed Starhawk's multiplayer to be just as much fun as Warhawk's, but now with our new Build & Battle toy box, you shooter fans will have something you haven't truly experienced before - the ability to change the battlefield on the fly. We'll have more details on Starhawk's multiplayer soon, but for now we invite you to come visit us at E3!
Thanks a ton for the amazing reactions to Starhawk thus far. I can honestly say that we've only scratched the surface so look out for more info in the months ahead.
