309w ago - Elaborating on the earlier Burnout Paradise: The Ultimate Box Announcement, today Criterion Games Producer Jeremy Chubb has detailed what's in store for Burnout Paradise including the Burnout Paradise Network and the Burnout Paradise Party Pack.

Phew! Another big week, here at Criterion Games, but it's great to be back on the blog! Today, we made the first of a series of announcements calling out our 2009 Burnout Paradise content.

So first up, we're talking about the in-game browser for the PLAYSTATION 3. We always like to embrace the great hardware innovations for PlayStation. We're using the browser to bring you closer to your friends and also to get you the latest news on what we're working on - it's like having criteriongames.com inside the game.

We'll bring you all the latest on this PlayStation-exclusive feature over the coming weeks, but for now all you need to know is it's called Burnout Paradise Network and it'll be ready in Feb '09.

Next up let's talk Burnout Paradise Party Pack.

Burnout Paradise: The Ultimate Box Announced, Options Added

50°
309w ago - This February, Electronic Arts will release Burnout Paradise: The Ultimate Box on PC, PS3 and Xbox 360, an edition of Criterion's open-world racer that packs all of the game's downloadable content along with a new offline multiplayer mode and other tweaks.

Dubbed Burnout Paradise Party, the offline multiplayer mode enables up to eight players to compete in challenges, one at a time, by passing the controller. For those that already own Burnout Paradise, the offline multiplayer mode will be sold as DLC.

The Ultimate Box will also add a number of oft-requested features, such as a restart option added for racing, easier control of the early vehicles, and a PS3-only social networking tool referred to as Burnout Paradise Network.

EA did not specify if those changes will be available to those that already own Burnout Paradise, which arrived on PS3 and Xbox 360 this past January. The Ultimate Box release will mark the game's promised debut on PC.

Fallout 3 for PlayStation 3 is a Bit Broken

50°
309w ago - While my experience with the XBox 360 version of Bethesda's Fallout 3 was rather pleasant, PlayStation 3 owners don't seem to be getting on nearly as well.

Complaints of choppy frame rates and graphical glitches are peppered throughout Bethesda's forums for the game, with others complaining about random lock ups and various other issues - textures not loading, significant slowdown etc.

Two major bugs have already been addressed by Bethesda in the forums, one concerning the game freezing during the GOAT test earlier in the game, and another dealing with the game pausing whenever a PS3 notification occurs. The first issue can apparently be solved by saving and restarting, while they suggest turning off notifications in the XMB for the second.

We've contacted Bethesda regarding these issues, specifically inquiring as to the possibility of a patch to fix problem with the PS3 version.

Watch out for PlayStation Network Abusers

50°
309w ago - The term 'hacker' is perhaps not so accurate, but more and more forums are reporting stories of people whose PSN password suddenly changed and that with their credit card information, stored in the account, games are purchased by someone else.

With the numerous BETAs and codes which allow you to get additional content, there are a lot of people seeking access to these. They are sometimes fooled by others under false pretenses, and only their login and password to enter PSN is needed. Below is an example of someone who is trying to obtain someone's password to enter through the Home BETA.

People sometimes offer to 'swap' PSN games, however, if you have each other's account information you can download each other's games... this is not only illegal, but secondly someone can change your password so you no longer can access the account. Worse yet, others will be able to access your credit card information.

Sony nor their official developers will ever ask your password and login for PSN as in the user conditions it's clearly prohibited, but because it happens often enough this is still a necessary warning.

Even if people know you on your e-mail address connected to your PSN account, make sure you have a password with a mix of numbers and letters, and not something like '1234 'or'...
