WipEout HD Reports of Crashing/Freezing Surface; Possible Fixes

100°
305w ago - Several have reported on the official UK PlayStation forum (linked above) that they are experiencing random crashes and freezing issues with the recently released WipEout HD.

Based on user feedback thus far, the bug appears to be affecting only those with too many people (50+) on their PSN friends list. SCEE Community Team Leader MusterBuster stated that Sony is looking into the issue, however, some are reporting possible "fixes" until an official update or patch is made available.

To quote lowrider007: Well, for me anyway, I can now play signed into PSN and no freezes, I updated my firmware to 2.43 and it seems to be fine now, I've had it on for about 3 hours now and it's the first time it hasn't locked up at all, strange that should fix my issue, perhaps their was a glitch in my last FW update for something.

To quote D-E-V-I-L-08: Listen carfully...

1. Sort out your buddy list - At 1st I had 61 friends.. and moved down to 38 friends.
2. Then delete both Wipeout game PLUS the system key (found in system data) and delete gamesave too.
3. Go to your download list.. then install the FULL GAME KEY (100kb) File 1st
4. Download the game
5. After completion, Install the game.. then.. turn PlayStation 3 off... and on
6. Run game.. and...

Steinberg Outlines PS3 Advantage; Warns Competitors

50°
305w ago - SCEA's VP of product marketing Scott Steinberg outlines his vision for PS3's future, and the benefits he believes will drive it to market dominance

In a Keynote, he covers the benefits Sony will be promoting to consumers this Holiday season. They include PS3's Blu-ray drive, first party games, PSN's increasingly diverse product portfolio and community features.

Steinberg writes, "In the next few years, you're going to start to see us separate from the herd. Some of the other platforms are going to look very dated because their life spans are so much shorter than ours."

He adds, "If you're a competitor I've got bad news for you because we've got some absolute blockbusters that are in the works, some of them new IP, some of them existing IP, that we're building specifically for the PS3

"From a competitive standpoint our competitors are going to have a tougher road now then even in 2008. But for PlayStation 3 consumers, it means more quality and more choice."

Burnout Paradise PS3 Trophy Update Now Live, Not Retroactive

50°
305w ago - Criterion Games has released its update for Burnout Paradise on PS3 which adds Trophy support. Dozens of trophy challenges have been added, including awards for both the Cagney and Bike update content.

The only mishap though - especially for such a massive game - is that you'll have to start again to start earning trophies, because none of them are retroactive.

"We had hoped to use this to retroactively award trophies, but we discovered during testing that this is not possible," admitted Criterion.

"If you're familiar with PS3 trophies already, you'll recognise that this works in the same way as all other games that have added trophy support post-release," it added.

A full list of the trophies can be found on the official site.
