200°
133w ago - Sony PlayStation Home Community Manager Locust_Star has announced today that beginning Wednesday eleven new games will be coming to PlayStation Home!

To quote: This Wednesday, January 11th will see yet another enormous update to PlayStation Home, with new games to play, a massive expansion to one of our most popular titles, and tons of collectible items.

For starters, our friends over at Digital Leisure are opening the doors to their all-new Casino game space.

Many of you have been asking for more casino-styled games since the launch of PlayStation Home Hold 'Em and we're proud to serve up an extremely elegant game space plucked straight from the Strip with all of the fun of a Vegas vacation without the high cost of admission.

From Blackjack and Poker and Casino War to Big Six Wheel and Keno and Slots, we've got you covered no matter what your game of choice is. Of course, no PlayStation Home game would be complete without some seriously awesome rewards, so Digital Leisure decided to add over 100 of them, including clothing, furniture, and even a luxury hotel room befitting the highest of high rollers (not that you'll be doing much sleeping once the Casino releases...)

Video: Galaxy Fight Plays the Blues in the PSN Import Store

200°
133w ago - MonkeyPaw Games Marketing Manager Ray Almeda has posted up a video today announcing that Galaxy Fight is now playing the blues in the PSN Import Store.

To quote: When my son talks about his favorite rock bands and the music of today, I always advise him to listen to the blues.

To fully understand music, you have to look at its roots. The blues brought us many of today's contemporary sounds. Art of any form is a collection of creative inspiration. Past masters influence resonate with today's prodigies and new art is conceived. The same is true of games.

One reason retro gaming is enjoying its recent renaissance is because gamers want to go back to their roots. Today's games, with their mesmerizing graphics, sometimes lack a simple hook. Graphics can become a form of marketing, which can distort the mechanics and gameplay. Retro games didn't have that luxury.

MonkeyPaw is all about the chance to relive some of those great games that made you a gaming junkie. So today we present a title that reminds us of our fighting game foundations. Galaxy Fight is a classic SunSoft title that strangely never found its way West.

You'll see the first time an "endless" platform was used in...

Sony Confirms Netflix is Coming to PlayStation Vita Console

400°
133w ago - Today SCEA Senior Vice President of Business Development Philip Rosenberg has officially confirmed that Netflix is coming to the PlayStation Vita handheld console.

To quote: As you may have heard during today's Sony Electronics press conference at the [Register or Login to view links] in Las Vegas, PlayStation and Netflix are teaming up again to bring tens of thousands of hours of movies and TV episodes from Netflix to the PS Vita for US customers.

The PlayStation 3 is of one the most popular devices for watching movies and TV shows streamed over the internet from Netflix.

Now all those movies and TV episodes can be watched on PS Vita's stunning high-def OLED front touch screen.

The addition of Netflix streaming to PS Vita's unique, powerful gameplay experiences gives users even more access and flexibility to the content they want, when they want it and where they want it.

Stay tuned for more exciting updates as we near the February 22nd launch of PS Vita!

Video: PS Vita Running PSP Homebrew via Half-Byte Loader (HBL)

1300°
133w ago - Today PlayStation Vita hacker wololo has shared a video (below) demonstrating several PSP homebrew applications and emulators running on PS Vita using their Half-Byte Loader (HBL).

To quote: In the past days I stabilized HBL for Teck4's exploit and got some major homebrews to work.

In the video below I'm showing a few homebrews running on the PS Vita. I also included Picodrive again to show that fixing the sound issue is relatively easy as it is just a setting in the emulator. Check the video below.

You can see in this video snes9xTYL (super nes emulator), Bookr (pdf reader), CSPSP, T.O.M.E. (text mode rpg), EmuMaster (game boy emulator), Zombie Crisis (FPS), Wagic (which loads about 10 times faster than on a real PSP, this talks for the improved access speed of this new memory stick format), cavestory (platform/adventure), Picodrive (sega genesis emulator), Spider solitaire, ScummVM (point-and-click adventure), Daedalus (N64 emulator, this is not DaedalusX64), FCEU-PSP (Nes emulator). Those are more or less the homebrews I [Register or Login to view links] to HBL users back when HBL was big.

Missing from this video is (unfortunately) gpsp which I couldn't get to run on the Vita, while it ran fine...
