291w ago - PlayStation 3 Firmware Update 2.35 is now available for download via Network Update or below. From the PlayStation Blog, Firmware 2.35 simply improves the stability of certain PS3 titles, according to PSN director Eric Lempel.
The list of titles affected by the update went unnamed, but Lempel did note that it has nothing to due with the lock-up issues a number of PS3 owners are experiencing with Grand Theft Auto IV.
291w ago - According to a poster named intimidtr3 on the US PlayStation Boards, 2K games Tech Support have said that Sony are looking into producing a new firmware just for the earlier version of the PS3 to fix the GTA IV issues.
To quote: Hello Xxxxx,
There is an issue with the launch edition of the PS3 and this game, the game was checked over and passed as 100% compatible with the current version of the PS3, of course the earlier version has custom chips which mean that it is a very different animal from the current PS3 on sale.
Sony are aware of this difference and are looking into producing a new firmware just for the earlier version of the PS3.

Additionally, the only changes in 2.30 per Sony are a Redesigned PLAYSTATION¨Store, Blu-ray Disc playback now supports DTS-HD Master Audio and DTS-HD High Resolution Audio output- noting the PS3 system does not support playback of DTS-ES and DTS 96/24 for DVD-Video or DTS-ES Matrix for Blu-ray Discs.
