Sony Announces PLAY PSN Event, Games with Special Bonuses

173w ago - Sony Digital Distribution Manager Pierre Gravereau has announced news today of a new annual PSN event called PLAY, which will deliver action games with special bonuses to participants.

To quote: We're excited to introduce a new PlayStation Network event: PLAY. PLAY is a brand-new annual program, where we're bringing you four of the season's hottest PlayStation Network action titles.

With every purchase of a PLAY title in the PlayStation Store throughout the duration of the program, you'll receive a separate piece of DLC for each game, plus a new theme with every pre-order.

If these incentives aren't enough, if you're 18 years or older and purchase all four PLAY titles in the PlayStation Store, you'll get a voucher code for PAYDAY: The Heist as a bonus gift. And, PlayStation Plus subscribers will get an automatic 20% off every purchase.

Pre-orders will be available for all four PLAY titles starting next week on August 9 in the PlayStation Store. Remember, in order to qualify to receive PAYDAY: The Heist as a bonus gift, your purchases must be made by September 19, 2011.

Team17 Announces Four New Worms 2: Armageddon DLC Packs

173w ago - Today Community Manager Mark Baldwin at Team17 has announced that four new Worms 2: Armageddon PS3 DLC packs will be hitting PSN this month.

To quote: We have some exciting news for all you PlayStation 3 Worms fans out there - over the next month we have got some action-packed DLC packs for Worms 2: Armageddon set for release.

The first DLC pack we released last year was the destructive "Battle Pack", which had a nice mix of worm-y goodness, and was very well received by our passionate fans.

We also know that different [Register or Login to view links] players find different features of the game appealing, and people do have their favourites.

For example, some players like to spend time wracking their brains over the fiendishly-designed puzzles; others really enjoy demonstrating their 'leet' (their word!) heavy weapons skills in fort games, while others still prefer racing each other, or against the clock, using the ninja ropes and jet-packs.

We are also aware of the fondness that many fans have for the older titles that got people addicted to the wacky world of Worms in the first place. We are proud that our fans like the breadth of content that the game offers, and we hope that with these four new DLC packs we have...
 

Video: Sony Announces Move.me App Hits PlayStation Store Today

174w ago - Sony Developer Support Senior Engineer John McCutchan announced that their new PS3 Move.me software application hits the PlayStation Store today, and is free to both students and educators!

To quote: At this year's Game Developers Conference we unveiled Move.me, a new software application that runs on the PS3 system and gives researchers, students, and programmers access to PlayStation Move's technology for developing apps beyond traditional gaming – physical therapy, sports rehabilitation, or education.

Move.me enables anyone with a PS3 to experiment with PlayStation Move and create new applications using a PC, the PlayStation Move motion controller, the PlayStation Eye camera, and the PS3 system.

Later today, Move.me will be available as a complimentary download for members of Academia including Academic researchers, faculty, staff, and students. Interested participants can apply for the Academia Program here. For all other users, Move.me will be available later today on the PlayStation Store for $99.99.

Sony Announces Tekken Hybrid is Coming Exclusively to PS3

To quote: We are very pleased to announce that we will be publishing TEKKEN Hybrid exclusively for PlayStation 3. TEKKEN Hybrid, due for a pre-Xmas release, will feature three bone-crunching goodies on one Blu-ray Disc:

Sony Announces Gamescom 2011 Press Conference on August 16

175w ago - With Comic-Con currently underway, today Sony has announced that SCEE will be holding their Gamescom 2011 press conference on August 16, 2011.

From VG247, to quote: The event will begin at 7pm and end at 8pm.

Expect this to be heavily Vita-focused, with worldwide dates - or at least, a European timeline - possibly announced. Press will also be allowed to try the handheld after the press conference has finished.

Also expect showings of Uncharted 3 and Resistance 3 during the presser.

Unless another event springs up, this pretty much confirms the line-up for this year's show. Here's the full goods.

Tuesday, August 16:

• Microsoft Play Day - 12.30pm - 3.30pm
• EA Press Conference - 4.00pm - 5.00pm
• Sony Press Conference - 7.00pm - 8.00pm

Wednesday, August 17:

• NCSoft Press Conference - 9.15am - 10.00am

This year's Gamescom event runs from August 17-21, 2011 with it opening to the public on the 18th.
