PlayStation Store PS3 and PSN Updates for January 24, 2012

131w ago - PlayStation Store Director Grace Chen is here with this weeks US PSN updates today, as follows:

Hi Everyone - This week sees the release of PSN Game Scarygirl. PS mini aficionados will be the first tell you about the magial, creepy-yet-cute world of Scarygirl with the first release which hit earlier last year.

Now, this beautiful platformer series sees a new adventure in which Scarygirl must go on a journey to determine who the man haunting her dreams is. Based on the original graphic novel by Nathan Jurevicius, Scarygirl delivers a combination of fantastically unique visuals and classic side-scrolling gameplay.

Expect more from the PS3 Full Games category with new releases Duke Nukem Forever and Mortal Kombat hitting PlayStation Network today. In case you needed an introduction to these two pillars in gaming, Duke Nukem Forever marks the return of the FPS's most tongue-in-cheek hero. Fight aliens and enjoy the one-of-a-kind humor that only playing a Duke Nukem game can bring.

Mortal Kombat also brings M-rated fun. Hailed as one of the best entries in the MK series, this entry sports great multiplayer (as always, play online free over PSN), and also contains a great new take on single player story telling in fighting games. And yes, this is the full PS3 version which...

Ubisoft Details Asphalt: Injection - Fueling the Fire on PS Vita

100°
131w ago - Ubisoft PR Specialist Alex Monney has shared details today on Asphalt: Injection, which will be fueling the fire on PlayStation Vita consoles next month!

To quote: Personally, I think racing games shine on handheld devices. Think of it this way: you're commuting home from work and sitting on a bus or a train.

Though your progress may be pokey, your mind is completely focused on the blistering competition between your Bugatti Super Sport and everyone else on the track.

For that short time, you completely forget about your commute. So, if your mind works like mine, you should definitely be excited for the arcade racing action of Asphalt: Injection.

Asphalt: Injection boasts ten game modes spanning the tried-and-true Race mode to more signature game modes including Cop Chase and Beat 'Em All (focused on take downs).

This, along with 20 different leagues to conquer and multiplayer via local and Wifi, will keep handheld racing fans entertained for a long time.

[Register or Login to view links] has also leveraged the unique features of PS Vita to create an easily accessible and social game. Asphalt: Injection has six different control schemes that take advantage of the dual analog sticks, the rear touch screen, or the accelerometer.

131w ago - Naughty Dog Co-President Evan Wells has announced today that Jak and Daxter Collection will be hitting PS3 on February 7, 2012 alongside detailing the PS3 Trophies below as follows:

The wait is almost over, Jak and Daxter fans! I'm happy to announce that Jak and Daxter Collection launches in North America on February 7th. In a few short weeks you'll be able to score the first three installments of the Jak and Daxter trilogy in one complete PS3 Blu-ray package for just $39.99.

Each game has been fully remastered to feature 720p HD visuals and stereoscopic 3D functionality, and one of the coolest new additions to the titles in Jak and Daxter Collection is the introduction of Trophy support.

When the series debuted on PS2 over 10 years ago, we didn't have Trophies. For our jump to PS3, Mass Media crafted custom Trophies for you to earn for all three titles in the collection.

The team at Mass Media has created intricate Trophies, each featuring a unique variation on a design theme based around its mission type. There are over 100 to collect including three Platinum Trophies, so you completionists will have hours of Trophy-hunting fun to look forward to.

Here's a sneak peek at some of the Trophies that will be up for grabs:

Video: Arc System Works Details BlazBlue for PlayStation Vita

100°
131w ago - Today Arc System Works Director Geraint Evans has shared a video detailing everything fans would want to know about BlazBlue for PlayStation Vita!

To quote: With the PS Vita launch just around the corner - we thought we'd take a look at a series that's built a reputation for itself among fighting aficionados over the last couple of years.

Currently readying itself for a spot on the 22 February launch line up, BlazBlue is a fighter that's proven something of a cult hit - a series that's earned high praise from critics for its left-field approach to fighting but is still perceived in some fighting circles as 'the weird other one'.

Getting stuck into a little Street Fighter or a bit of Tekken from time to time is comforting, familiar - you know your way around the character roster, their moves and abilities. You know where you stand - and we understand that.

BlazBlue, seems scary in comparison. For the uninitiated, gameplay footage looks full-on, intense - like the circus has arrived for a gunfight at a firework factory. It's hard to look beyond the relentless visual assault and understand the fighting game that lies beneath.

So for all you BlazBlue beginners out there...
