Video: Uncharted 3 PS3 Behind The Scenes: Motion Capture

250°
129w ago - SCEE Manager James Gallagher has made available a video today showcasing the motion capture technology utilized in Uncharted 3 PS3 behind the scenes.

To quote: I don't need to remind you that the release of Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception is less than a week away and you may have seen that the reviews are rolling in, including perfect scores from IGN, PlayStation Official Magazine UK, Destructoid, The Guardian and more.

These critics have all highlighted narrative and, in particular, the actors' performances as particular strengths.

It's unusual, when you think about it, to be talking about performances in the context of a game, but it's that marriage of technology and human acting, along with a great script and a skilled team of animators, that brings Drake, Sully and co. to life in such a believable way.

While we were in Jordan a few weeks ago - you may have seen our Treasure Hunt video here on the blog - we spoke with Nolan North and Emily Rose, the actors behind Nathan Drake and Elena Fisher, as well as Taylor Kurosaki and Arne Meyer from Naughty Dog, about how this performance capture process works.

Update: This week, we're...

Video: Skullgirls Dev Diary: Skullgirls' Perfected Pugilism on PSN

100°
129w ago - Today Reverge Labs Designer, Producer and Community Manager Peter Bartholow has shared some new Skullgirls development diary video footage and details on the PSN title below.

To quote: A few weeks ago I gave you a run-down on our new 2D fighter, Skullgirls. Last time I discussed the game's story and its characters, and exclusively revealed Ms. Fortune.

This week we'll be talking about the really important part: the gameplay.

As I noted last time, Skullgirls' lead designer and programmer is Mike "Mike Z" Zaimont, a noted tournament fighter and (regretful) creator of the "real soviet damage" Internet meme.

While our art team strives to make the game look amazing, gameplay always comes first. Mike's impetus to create Skullgirls was to make a game that was as fun to play as Marvel vs. Capcom 2, but addressed the system and balance problems that kept that game from being competitively viable.

The bane of many a fighter is the infinite combo: these are easily-repeated, inescapable attack patterns, and they can completely ruin games. Skullgirls gets around this by monitoring the players' attacks, and if the game detects a looping combo the...

Details and Payloads for Dumping PS3 Per Console Keys Surface

1500°
129w ago - PlayStation 3 developers have been busy recently working on payloads for dumping the PS3 per console keys, as once the per_console_key_0 is obtained with full EID decryption dongles and burned BR-D's may be a thing of the past.

Below are details from sphinxkoma and the PS3 Wiki (ps3devwiki.com/index.php?title=Talk:Per_Console_Keys) on dumping the per_console_key_1 via Kaz... it's only a matter of time for per_console_key_0 which unlocks everything we need.

To quote: PS3 Per Console Keys

EID crypto is very complicated, it is done so on purpose. first of all EID0 isn't decrypted with one key, and one algorithm alone. it is decrypted in several parts which use different algos and keys. the keys are all derivations of a per console key (per_console_key_1) which is stored inside metldr and copied by it to sector 0 and never leaves isolation. that same key is a derivation of the per console key (per_console_key_0) used to encrypt metldr and the bl in the first place as well.

isoldr clears that key from sector 0 before jumping to the isolated module. but before doing so it encrypts it with another keyset and stores it in a buffer so that the isolated module can use the new crafted key. since the operation is AES, if you know that keyset you can decrypt...

350°
129w ago - Sony Senior Social Media Specialist Sid Shuman has shared an FAQ on PixelJunk SideScroller below, which is now live on PSN today!

To quote: PixelJunk SideScroller is finally out in the world! This retro-styled side-scrolling shooter plays like a love note to the arcade games I grew up with in my youth, and serves as a quasi-epilogue to the PixelJunk Shooter series.

Before you pick it up on the PlayStation Store, get a closer look with this handy new Q&A. Q-Games President and Executive Producer Dylan Cuthbert took to Twitter to answer your most burning questions. Read closely and you might learn a few helpful secrets!

Q: How many levels come with PixelJunk SideScroller?

A: There are 13 levels (called "Sectors") in total. This includes four absolutely amazing boss battles (Note: Expect an "old friend" from the Shooter-verse to make an appearance, but you'll be seeing loads of new faces as well).

One thing that's so great about SideScroller is that it has four difficulty modes, and the experience will change depending on what difficulty mode you select. New enemies crop up in Hard difficulty mode, and expect certain encounters to get a whole lot more harrowing because of them.

200°
129w ago - Today Namco bandai Games Community Manager Rich Bantegui has shared details on the upcoming PS Vita title Shinobido 2: Revenge of Zen for fans.

To quote: If you're like me, then you've already whipped out your fat red marker and circled February 22nd, 2012 on your calendar the minute our friends at Sony Computer Entertainment announced the launch date of the PS Vita in North America.

Last week we were able to reveal the name of Touch My Katamari, which will be hitting on launch day. Today, we're back with more on another launch title from Namco Bandai.

While they still won't let ME have a PS Vita yet, I do know at least one other person that does have one. That would be Mr. Kazuhiro Watanabe at famed studio Acquire in Japan.

Known around the world for being among the best developers in the stealth action genre with their work on the Tenchu series, Mr. Watanabe's team has been working non-stop on a PS Vita title that will be slicing the life out of enemies before they can even see what's coming.

Previously teased during Tokyo Game Show under the subtitle "Tales of the Ninja," the team has finalized the name of their upcoming assassin adventure, and has just revealed their brand-spanking new logo for Shinobido 2: Revenge of Zen. We here at Namco Bandai Games...
