Resident Evil: Degeneration Headed to Blu-ray; First Details

100°
334w ago - Sometime in December or at the latest January, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment will release the first Resident Evil all-CGI movie on Blu-ray Disc, day-and-date with DVD and PSP.

Sony describes what will be the fourth Resident Evil film as follows:

The "Umbrella Incident" that took place in Raccoon City was ended with the eradication of the deadly virus by a missile attack ordered by the government. As its operations were suspended on a global scale, Umbrella Corporation stock plummeted. This serious blow to the business giant resulted in its complete dissolution.

7 years later, at an airport somewhere in the United States. An ordinary autumn afternoon. One zombie is unleashed into this peaceful scene to attack everyone. In the airport starting to fill up with the undead, the horrific disaster is about to be repeat itself...

We've got early Blu-ray specs and extra features to share which include a nod to Resident Evil 5 on Playstation 3 and Xbox 360. In addition to a 1.78:1 1080p video transfer and 5.1 Dolby TrueHD audio, expect the following:

- Interactive Picture-in-Picture (Blu-ray exclusive)
- Trivia Track
- The Making of Resident Evil: Degeneration
- Character Profiles
- Voice Bloopers
- Leon Interview
- Resident Evil:...

Resistance 2: Collector's Edition details announced!

50°
334w ago - The box art itself still hasn't been shown on Amazon (but it should come soon, as the IGN voting for the boxart earlier this week is already over for the US). The one below is simply of the three candidates (and the obvious favorite).

But until now, we haven't really known what was going to be the in CE edition of the game. Amazon's got the lowdown on what will come for your $80.

Like a lot of CE versions of games these days, Resistance 2 will come with a bonus disc with behind-the-scenes footage, video commentary from Insomniac themselves, and a video dubbed "Twisted History" chronology video.

Of course, there's more. It also comes with an exclusive multiplayer skin (HVAP Wraith), a double-sided art book 'covering a war-torn America from two unique perspectives', and even a sneak peek at the soon-to-happen Resistance novel "The Gathering Storm." Yeah, they're doing one too.

Finally (yes, there's STILL more), a 5.5″ figurine of a Chimera Hybrid will come with the package (holding a Bullseye).

First PlayStation 3 Firmware 2.5 Details Available; Screen Grabbing

200°
335w ago - CVG has learnt that Sony's next firmware update for PlayStation 3 will include an option for screen grabbing, allowing you to take your own shots of what you get up to on your PS3.

A development source has told CVG that PS3 firmware update 2.5 is rumored to have screen grabbing built in.

Exactly how this would be done and what you could do with the shots once you've grabbed a piece of the action isn't yet known. But you've got to reckon that uploading them to a server and showing off and using the images as themes would be a safe bet.

Sony hasn't announced anything about a 2.5 update yet and won't even discuss the subject.

We'll file this one under 'wait and see' for the time being.

Full Details on Patch #2 for Madden 09

50°
335w ago - Details on items that have been fixed with the second patch for Madden 09 are the topic of a brand new blog posted by producer Ian Cummings on the Madden 09 Web site.

Included are the disconnects that have been plaguing online, franchise progression, fixed exploits including the WR Direct Snap and Deep Ball glitches, field degradation, and gameplay improvements. Most of the gripes consumers have had with the game look as though they'll be addressed in the coming patch. Not sure there is much more you can ask for out of this.

The work on the patch has been completed and is being submitted to MS and Sony on Tuesday. This puts the time frame to expect it to arrive still at least a few weeks out. Continue on to read the full list of issues and workarounds.

1. Kicking play disconnect: If two opponents play a game with two different camera angles, in any situation where a game winning or tying kick was to be made, a disconnect could occur. "ActionCam" forces the game to go into slow-motion to add drama to these late kicks, but unfortunately the Classic camera does not, thus forcing the "disconnect". This has been fixed...all cameras can still be used as well.

Workaround until the patch: If possible, ensure that you and your opponent have the same camera type chosen before...
